Looks like we get one more "winter" storm through Western Washington tomorrow night. Also my chances of being killed by Feta's stink eye is low...but never zero.

This is our sweet lady Colette. She is one of Mr. Peabody's girlfriends and is absolutely convinced she is the most delicate flower on the planet. She experienced the most mild discomfort of her young life by being placed into a carrier and immediately stuffed her face in a corner and played dead and screamed at me when I poked her to check on her. Colette also protests any disturbance to her environment. While her "cellmates" watch me clean...she runs around repeatedly trying to stand on my hand and completely panics that I have stolen her poops. Please keep our delicate flower in your thoughts and prayers as she survives this horrible thing called "life".

Karen is a uniquely marked white ebony female available at our Washington location. She's about 8 months old and a big lovable girl. Despite the Karen stare she can give the camera, this girl is all snuggles and loves to come up to the front of the cage for scritches or a treat. Being a white ebony, her color will continue to change through her lifespan and the coat often becomes more splotchy and more appearance of white as they age. This sweet girl is patiently awaiting her new home. ❤

***UPDATE*** April Fool's! This guy here is our handsome, sweet goldbar/Lowe Recessive White carrier Mr. Peabody. His mother was a little overzealous on tugging him out, so he was born missing both ears. We think his earless appearance gives him more personality and this sweet guy is a hopeful future father to our next generation of golbars/Lowe Recessive Whites.

Veruca is a beautiful tripod violet female we have available at our Washington location. We don't often have females available here and haven't had a violet available in two years. Veruca has a more shy personality, but she's also a snuggler and loves to be held. Her missing leg is her right hind leg and was a birth injury. Veruca doesn't know a life with more than three limbs and her stump has a healthy and strong callus built up. She does need softer surfaces for jumping and resting on and will require pine shavings or aspen shavings for bedding. Veruca does well with other chinchillas, but may be slower to form a bond due to her shy nature. She would need a calm and patient companion and would not do well with a dominant or bossy roommate.
Because she doesn't have her full right hind leg, she does love getting scritches and extra grooming attention to her right ear and cheek like most tripods that can't quite reach the itchies. This sweet girl will be comfortable here while she patiently waits for the perfect home.

Just a few of our currently available boys.

We are in the midst of some summer lovin' baby booms happening at both locations and despite our lack of posting...we are pretty low on available animals at both locations. Summer is also a super busy time with kids' birthday parties to plan, a 10 day summer vacation planned, graduation parties (our oldest baby is going into high school! 😭 ), growing our homesteads, gardening, dance recitals, and all of our other responsibilities just catching up this summer!

We still have a super chubby, beautiful chocolate tan male available in Washington, two owner surrenders (both standard, one male and one female), and a few young standards including an extremely friendly little girl.

We have some newly weaned babies coming available in Illinois...mostly standards at this time as we recently re-evaluated and reorganized our herds and will be keeping back the majority of the babies to evaluate our pairings.

As the summer heat starts to hit, we also want to remind everyone to make sure you have backup options and monitoring devices for temperature for your chinchillas. The easiest and most preventable way for a chinchilla to lose their lives is a/c failure in the summer heat! We have temperature monitoring devices that ping to our phones from our barns as well as Blink camera set ups for monitoring while we are away. An often overlooked issue is cleanliness...dirty cages hold in humidity and humidity will trap heat. Keep your cages extra clean in the summer months to help control your temperatures! Stay cool and stay safe!
