"The best catch on the water"

06/18/2026

Had the day off today and I was happy to get on a good frog bite, but I just haven't been able to catch any giants this year. Catching some quality but no giants.

Recon trip this morning before work. Just one bass but I caught the biggest Rainbow Trout I've ever caught (not a trout fisherman) had to be 18 inches, but it wiggled out of my hand while I was trying to tack a picture.

Just got back from a three night get-away with my wife, we certainly lucked out with the weather. Even though I only fished for two to three hours each morning, I caught a crazy amount of mid-size fish that just seemed to fight a little bit harder than usual.

I turned lemons into lemonade today. Headed out to Conn this morning in hopes of getting a good frog bite, but after three hours and just a handful of fish (one decent one) I headed back to RI. As soon as the rain started, the bite picked up and I got on an awesome Buzzbait bite, nearly tripling my catch and getting a chunky one.

Fish were acting really spooky today, thought they would have been more aggressive with the cloudy conditions, but the bigger fish would just take off when my cast landed near them. Still managed a few good ones and a bunch of d***s.

The Warden and I had a 50/50 weekend. The first day we caught a good amount of Smallmouth and Largemouth, even doubling up.
The second day we faced 15 to 25 mph winds and only caught a few before we were blown off the lake.

Had a good morning with the Mailman, caught a bunch fish but the better quality fish had flat stomachs and seem to have spawned already, like the one I'm holding.

I've been catching lots of fish but have been in a big fish slump. The good news is, I caught my first 🐸 fish of the season, in fact about 6 of them. Fish were so shallow they were in 6 inches of flooded grass, pretty fun even if they weren't big.

Day Two with the Warden went nearly the same as day one, 29 small to medium fish and one meatball. With cold fronts, crazy wind and high pressure, I think we did ok the last two days.

Day one with the Warden is in the books. We caught 30 bass but only one picture worthy fish. We'll be back at it again tomorrow.
