What are the Odds?! Two of the most polarized world leaders visit the United States in the same week! And then John Boehner resigns?? Let's Talk about it!
On one hand, Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China with several human rights allegations is visiting the White House.
On the other, Pope Francis, a moral and spiritual world leader, with unprecedented popularity, and liberal views on climate change, income inequality, and immigration, is also visiting the US this week.
That makes us curious. What is are the politics of this anomaly?
And then there is this...
No Pope has ever visited the United States during a Presidential elections until now. With the race for the White house starting to heat up, do you think that the Pope's visit & speech to Congress will influence the Election in any way? How might the Pope's visit influence the rhetoric of Democratic and Republican Candidates? Who might this favor? Has it already begun with John Boehner's resignation?
What an unbelievable week in review! We would love to hear what you think.
What skills have you been learning at your summer internship?

So you want to be an Actuary?
Here's a 5 point summary on Actuarial recruitment (2011-2020):
1. The insurance industry is facing a more stringent regulatory and supervisory environment. Technology is also changing the way clients consume products, the types of products they demand, and -- crucially – the way insurers design and price products, target clients, and manage risk.
2. There's more supply of workers than demand, making entry-level positions highly competitive.
3. Largest employment growth is in Healthcare (a result of Obamacare). Least growth in Pensions (defined benefit plans are going extinct!)
4. There's Increasing demand of a broader (non-actuarial) skill set. Although Predictive Modeling is the most needed. There is also a significant skill gap in this area.
5. There's a shortage of career development opportunities in the field.
