💥BEST SPOTS‼️Bucket List Rockhounding Roadtrip in Oregon.
Ready to turn your next beach walk into a treasure hunt? 🌊✨ Agate hunting on the Oregon Coast is the ultimate way to recharge, especially when the winter and spring storms clear the way for new finds! 💎
Here is your quick guide to scoring the best agates and carnelians:
📍Best Spots to Explore: Check out Moolack Beach, Beverly Beach, Short Beach, Cape Meares, Yachats State Recreation Area, and Bob Creek Wayside for prime hunting grounds.
⏰ The Perfect Timing: Plan your trip around low tide—especially those minus tides—and hit the sand right after a storm when fresh gravel beds are exposed. ⛈️
👀 What to Look For: Keep your eyes peeled for rocks with a waxy or milky look, often showing off beautiful shades of orange, yellow, or white.
🥇Pro Tip: Hold your potential finds up to the sunlight; if they glow with translucency, you’ve got a winner!
📝 Know the Rules: You are allowed to collect up to one gallon of rocks per person, per day (with a three-gallon annual limit).
🌊⚠️ Safety First: Always keep your eyes on the horizon and never turn your back on the ocean—watch out for those sneaky waves!
Pack Your Gear: Make sure to bring a mesh bag, a small scoop, and a spray bottle to rinse your finds and reveal their true colors instantly. 🎒
Whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned pro, there’s nothing like the thrill of finding a hidden gem on the shoreline.
Happy hunting! 🐚🙌

🌈 RAINBOW OBSIDIAN BUCKET LIST ROADTRIP ADVENTURE‼️
Are you ready for some FREE collecting, gorgeous weather, and stunning finds?
Let’s go rockhounding! 💎✨
Why Glass Buttes, Oregon is a Must-Visit..
🌈 Volcanic Treasure: Known for highly coveted Rainbow Obsidian.
✨Rare Finds: It’s also a source for the elusive "Fire Obsidian," famous for its vivid, multi-colored sheen caused by unique nanoparticle magnetite inclusions!
⛏️⛰️Rockhound Heaven: Located in Lake County, this area is a famous, public-friendly, and FREE site to dig!
🏺🌎Ancient History: Glass Buttes obsidian is legendary! Artifacts made from this glass have been discovered all across the Pacific Northwest—and even as far away as archaeological sites in Ohio!

🔍 How to Identify Your Finds
🌈 Rainbow Obsidian: Look for thin, colorful bands or "sheen" when held in direct sunlight.
🔥Fire Obsidian: This is the "Holy Grail!" It displays intense, bright flashes of color—often reds, golds, and greens—that seem to move under the surface as you tilt the stone.
Sheen Obsidian: Usually shows a silver or gold shimmer caused by tiny, aligned bubbles or inclusions inside the glass.✨
⚠️ Important Tips for Your Dig:
Know Your Boundaries: Please pay close attention to mapped areas marked with boxed-in lines. 🗺️
Respect Private Property: Those boxes represent legal, private mines. You are welcome to walk or hike through these areas, but foraging or digging is strictly prohibited without explicit owner permission. 🚫⛏️
Dig Freely Elsewhere: No stress! There are HUNDREDS of acres of open land surrounding those claims with an incredible variety of colors to collect. Plenty of space for everyone to find their treasure! 🙌💎
Quick Planning Checklist
[ ]🧥Check the Weather: High-desert temps can swing wildly from day to night. Pack layers!
[ ] 🚙💨Vehicle Check: Many roads out there are gravel or dirt. Ensure your spare tire is inflated and your vehicle is up for the drive.
[ ]📵🗺️Download Offline Maps: Cell service is non-existent in many parts of the high desert. Don’t rely on your phones data.
A massive shout-out to
