A faith based volunteer group that provides hot meals during times of Natural Disaster. We answered the call again in the May 1995 flood. Then in 2016, Denham.

The first time members of Slidell deployed was to Pensacola in 1992 following Hurricane Andrew.

The KoC 2732 DRT cooked just over 100 Turkeys for our community as a fundraiser for future deployments.
We had a few benefactors who purchased extra turkeys for us to give away. Thank you!
The all volunteer DRT responds to natural disasters along the Gulf Coast following a Cat 3 or higher storm.
We couldn’t do it without this great community’s support.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

What a whirlwind 48 hours!
The DRT has teamed up with friends from across the country to provide hot cooked meals to those in need.
One of our “family members” has a grand daughter who needs help with her heart.
Arianna Eaton who is 3 years old has HLS, so our SMM DRT team traveled to Tuscaloosa to help raise awareness and funds for her recovery.
We raised over $8,000 for Julie Kizziah & Tommy Kizziah’s family to help with medical expenses and such.
It was a great day!
Check out our Alabama housing!

-I’m actually here to let you know about a ministry we have here at St Margaret Mary!
well…kinda here!
The St Margaret Mary Men’s Club Disaster Relief Feeding Ministry Team
(SMM DRT)

Back in 2016, the MC traveled to Denham Springs following the devastating floods and served thousands of hot cooked meals at Immaculate Conception to those in need. Since that time we have traveled from Orange, TX to the Florida panhandle. And last year we went all the way to Hendersonville, NC!

Since 2016, the SMM DRT has served nearly 120,000 hot cooked meals!

This coming Saturday, April 12th, we will be hosting a mock disaster feeding ministry training event and fundraiser.

We plan to share things we have learned over the years from the many trips we have made. We hope to duplicate the work we do following a disaster in other areas of the country through CCUSA.
We plan to prepare 1,500 hot cooked meals between lunch (served at 11:30am) and dinner (5:00pm).
Lunch will be Salisbury steak, red potatoes, vegetables
& Dinner will be a chicken quarter, pastalaya, and vegetables.

The proceeds will be split between the DRT for future deployments and Sgt Grant Candies family to help them with expenses following his tragic death.

We hope that you will support this effort and invite you to come see how this hard working group of volunteers operate!
God bless you!

Mark your calendar and save the date!
On Saturday April 12th, 2025 Catholic Charities USA’s Disaster Relief team will have members from across the country gather at St Margaret Mary parish to preform a “Mock Disaster Relief Feeding Event”.
Members of the SMM MC DRT, along with Our Lady of Lourdes and Pope John Paul HS men’s club volunteers will lead the effort in providing between 800-1,000 hot cooked meals as a fundraiser and training program.
It is the desire of CCUSA to duplicate across the country the program that the SMM men’s club started in 2016.
Since 2016, your men’s club volunteer Disaster Relief Team has provided over 120,000 hot cooked meals to communities affected by natural disasters.
