🚨We are getting multiple reports of vehicles stalling on the roadways, due to rising flood waters. We are experiencing a large amount of rain in a short period of time…with more to come. Please stay off the roads. If you find yourself having to drive, use EXTREME caution.

🚔🏍️ Our Traffic Division stopped by the Fit as a Firefighter Camp hosted by St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 this morning to talk with campers about traffic safety and what they do to keep our roads safe every day.

The visit wrapped up with a crowd favorite . . . a motorcycle skills demonstration that showcased the precision and training required to ride safely. Thanks to STFPD1 for having us and to all the campers for being such a great audience!

Due to a 12-inch water main break, a section of W. Hall Avenue between St. Tammany Avenue and St. Scholastica Drive is currently closed while City crews make emergency repairs.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.

We also anticipate a boil water advisory will be issued for customers in the affected area. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Today, the Slidell Police Department was honored to host the Truth in Nature mentorship group for a morning of learning, mentoring, and new experiences.

The day began with a meet-and-greet with Chief-elect Tommy Williams, Interim-Chief Daniel Seuzeneau, and members of our Command Staff. These young men then took on the Slidell Regional Police Academy obstacle course, visited St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 for hands-on demonstrations, and wrapped up the day with presentations from our Canine Division and SWAT Team.

To the young men who joined us today: 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨.

This morning, Chief-elect Tommy Williams, Mayor Randy Fandal and Interim-Chief Daniel Seuzeneau attended Reveille Northshore to give city updates and hear about all the wonderful things happening throughout our parish. It was a packed house this morning!

Some calls are serious. Some calls are strange. And then there are the ones involving a pig running wild at a local hotel, leading officers on a short-lived game of hide-and-seek.

Just when our officers thought the shift was going to be "routine," they received a call about a pig wandering around a local hotel and causing a bit of a stir. Officers arrived and quickly discovered this little piglet wasn't going to go down without a fight. The piglet had taken cover underneath a police unit, where it clearly believed it had successfully evaded capture.

𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵

After a little patience, some careful coaxing, and what we can only assume was a serious negotiation, officers safely guided the pig out from under the police unit and into custody.

Turns out, the pig had been abandoned at the hotel and was likely just looking for a little protection . . . or maybe complimentary breakfast.

Either way, this porky fugitive is now safe and being cared for at the Slidell Animal Shelter, where it will be evaluated by a veterinarian while awaiting its next chapter.

Great work by our officers for handling this situation with care, professionalism, and just the right amount of bacon-related restraint. 🐷🚔
