Art & ceramics classes for children & adults/Art studio

Join us for a fun handbuilding ceramics class where we create jewelry organizers. We will use slab method. Skills & techniques will be taught. We will create these on Friday, July 3rd at 5:30pm-7:30ish. Cost includes clay, instruction, use of tools, & bisque firing. $36/student. Then on Friday, July 17th at 5:30pm we will glaze (paint) our jewelry organizers. If you need a different date for glazing, that is no problem. Glazing is an additional $36/student & covers the glaze firing also. You do not have to glaze your artwork if you choose not to but it will make it colorful, shiny, & more durable bc it goes up to full temperature in that firing. Please send a venmo for $36 to join the July 17th class with name & class to Explorations-in-art or PayPal to [email protected]. Located at 2163 Gause Blvd West in Slidell. We share space with Natural Healing Family Chiropractic. Our sign is on the window. Hope to see you there!
No Mommy & Me class this morning at 9am. We will postpone this project until next month. Thank you & sorry for any inconvenience. Have a wonderful weekend!

Pictures from our art reception at the end of our Summer Camp. Such a fun & productive 2026 Summer Camp 😊 🎨 🖌 ✏️ 💚 They did wonderfully on all their artworks!
We had other students drop-in throughout the camp but this was the main group from the whole camp. Such a wonderful group of tiny artists & my Art Family!!

Yesterday was our last day of Summer Camp (day 8). We had such a blast this year. I had such a wonderful group of kids. I am so proud of their behaviors, their effort on their artworks, their creativity, & playing together so well.
We worked on mixed-media artworks made on 11"x15" cardboard where they drew their subject matter of choice then went over it in hot glue to create a raised surface. Then we covered them in tin foil & then rendered them with acrylic paint 🎨. While I cleaned up the paint mess the kids played musical chairs up front. Then instead of a science project we baked homemade cookies from a recipe...fun fetti cookies. 🍪
We then had an art reception with parents & siblings showing off all of their artworks from the camp. Reception pictures will be in the next post.
Thank you to all of the parents & grandparents who entrusted your wonder kiddos to me for this camp. I have enjoyed my time with them & appreciate you!! 💚

Everything in the glaze firing came out great! If you see your artworks here & want to pick them up, I'll be at the studio today until 3pm, Thursday 3-4:30pm, & Saturday noon-2pm. Still have more wheel date artworks to fire if you don't see yours here. They will go in next. Thank you!

Last Friday we had a fun Mommy & Me class where we read "Night Night Dinosaur" by Roger Priddy & created dinosaur foot print fossil pendants for necklaces & little dinosaur sculptures out of clay. One will be kiln fired & they painted the other with acrylic paint & took it home. It was his first working with clay. They had fun creating & painting. Join us on Fridays from 9am-10am over the summer for this fun class.

Last Wednesday we had the sweetest Wheel Date of 2 best friends. One of them loves my wheel dates & it is her 3rd time. She has brought her son, her partner, & now her best friend also! Love it! She is perfecting her skills & it shows bc she created some really awesome pieces in hardly any time at all & her best friend did fabulous for her first time also. They were both so fun to create with & hang out with that it makes me so thankful for the fun job that I have. Thanks for looking & if you'd like to set up a Wheel Date then send a message. Yesterday was our 7th day of Summer Camp. Today is the last day. We reviewed what we learned last week about Grecian story telling vessels from 900BC & then looked at the contemporary artist Cleon Peterson for inspiration for the exterior designs of these vessels. We got so busy that I forgot to take pics of the finished products. Then after lunch we created jello play dough from a recipe over a camp stove. The first batch we messed up but we learned from our mistake & the second 2 after thst worked great. They had a lot of fun creating these & measuring, mixing, & playing with them.

Yesterday was our 6th day of Summer Camp. Students glazed their sea creature pinch pot artworks & father's day presents, created father's day cards, painted lanterns with watercolors, & had fun with the science project of colored rainclouds using water, shaving cream, & food coloring. They had fun with it. All of their ceramics are currently being fired in the kiln now so they can be taken home on Wednesday.
