Sitka Public Library (formerly Kettleson Memorial Library) has been serving the city and borough of Sitka since March 20, 1923, when it opened under the name of Sitka Public Library.

Community tweens and teens are invited to participate in the Pride Silent Book Club at Sitka Public Library today, June 18th and next Thursday, June 25th, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Participants can bring a book or get one of the many available titles from the library to enjoy 1 hour of quiet reading, pizza, crafts and free books. This event is a partnership between Sitka Pride and Sitka Public Library.

In celebration of Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19th, Sitka Public Library is offering a free Celebrate Freedom Kit for youth to take home. The kit includes activities, a craft, and information about the holiday, which marks the date in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and emancipate enslaved people.
