During Adventure Week, nightly conversations around the campfire were paramount. It was a time the guys could freely speak about their struggles as Vets and First Responders.

For a group of rugged men adventuring, being asked to stop and pause several times throughout the week may have felt unexpected. They did it anyway…
Observing. Sitting. Breathing. Taking in the beauty. Being in awe.
With hope, these inspiring memories will serve as reminders for them to take time to sit. Allowing nature’s healing magic to take root.

It was thumbs up all around for our Waypoint Adventure Week crew. Time spent on the water kayaking and fishing was another highlight for the guys. A big shoutout to everyone who made the week a success.

Waypoint Adventure Week was a whirlwind! With a handful of Veterans and First Responders hiking, kayaking, fishing, camping, exploring together on and around the island it was a meaningful and memorable for everyone involved.
When asked about what stood out to him most over the week, Marine Vet Jason Whittier said, “The sheer amount of bonding. I had never met any of
these men before and now I feel like I have friends for life. I feel as close to them as some of the guys I served with. From pizza at the brewery, shopping for gifts, the tubs, kayaking… it was never awkward. It was a joy just being around the men I was around. We are already planning trips that will bring us back together.”

It’s almost time! Waypoint Adventure Week is coming up in just a few days. After delays due to Covid the last two summers, we are thankful to finally have a green light. Stay tuned as our first recipients arrive and explore the beauty and healing Sitka has to offer. We are thankful for all your support in helping vets, first responders and their families attain healing through nature on our beautiful land.

Waypoint for Veterans Veteran Nonprofit located in Sitka, Alaska to promote healing through outdoor adventures. This nonprofit is for the Veteran and their family as well as for First Responders.
