We gave our 5,000th ride of the year yesterday, helping connect vulnerable people in our community with care that will improve their wellbeing. And we did it while maintaining their dignity and strengthening relationships!

Congratulations to Rick Laughlin, our 2025 Kate Heligas Volunteer of the Year!

Rick's roots with Project CAR go back to the 90s when he was on the board of directors from First Congregational Church and the City of Sioux Falls. After retiring from a long career in public transportation, he started as a volunteer driver in 2021. To date he's provided over 3,000 rides to some of our community's most vulnerable people.

When presented with our traveling trophy and a told he was our Volunteer of the Year, he smiled big and said, "I like doing this!"

Walk a Mile, Change a Life

Project CAR is raising funds to provide free health care rides to some of Sioux Falls' most vulnerable people in this year's Human Race. Sign up to walk a mile or run a 5K on Saturday, June 6 — 75% of your registration fee goes directly to helping Project CAR's riders. Plus, you'll get a stylish T-shirt and the chance to hang out with other really cool Project CAR supporters just like you. It's a great event for the whole family!

| Sioux Empire United Way Hours of care were provided to adults through Active Generations' Day break program last year, enhancing and enriching the lives of those they serve in our community.

When it's oil change and preventative maintenance time for our fleet, it means we're at Sioux Falls Ford Lincoln. Look what we spotted! They've been so great to us as a plucky little nonprofit ministry with a small fleet. And as a Sioux Empire United Way funded agency, we couldn't be more thrilled that they choose to support at-risk and vulnerable people in our community.
