Debated posting this for awhile cause there's always criticism. We aren't a body shop- but this customer didn't want to pay body shop prices. With a mark down to bare metal and a gnarly dent, we did the best we could. Sanded it down to bare metal and re sprayed it. Prime, sand, prime, sand, color, sand, color, sand, color, sand, clear, sand, clear, sand, clear, sand, sand, sand, cut and polish.

Its not a perfect fix. Ideally we would have blended out the whole panel. The paint also wasn't a perfect match and we might be looking for a new touch up supplier after this. There's definitely a visible difference. Fogged it out best we could. Got some nasty orange peel. But at the end of the day, customer got a same day service for less than $600. And a decent 15 foot or so paint job 🤷🏼‍♂️
I don't wanna hear about our newspaper masking system it worked fine. We used plastic later for fogging. 🫡

Audi got a classic exterior detail and some touch up paint. Used the needle method to apply 2 coats of color and 1, of clear. Thanks to the shape and depth of the damage the touch up self leveled fairly well, although some spot sanding will be required once the paint has fully dried.

I've been working on this Tesla for almost a month now, and large amounts of rock chip damage requiring touch-up paint. As well as fixing improper touch up paint applied by another detailer, AND applying a coating to the vehicle, that the other detailer, who we know who they are but won't say publicly, charged for and didn't apply. Lots of sanding, lots of correction and enhancment, and lots of contamination to be removed.
Car is now correctly coated with and has proper matching and blended touch-up.

Sometimes, improvement is all you can achieve. I'm not afraid to show off improvement, even if it's not perfect. The customer had various substances that had stained the seats of this Honda and remained stained for prolonged periods of time. And while it's not perfect, the vehicle is safe and comfortable to drive again. If a detailer tries to tell you, perfection is always achievable, no, it isn't. They aren't that guy.
