What is your role at Ridgetop?
- Washington State History Teacher, American Sign Language Teacher, and English Language Arts teacher.

What is your favorite TV show/movie and why?
- Big Bang Theory, because I like how completely different people become friends and bring the best out in each other.

Do you have a favorite childhood memory?
- Retracing Lewis and Clark's journey from Washington to North Dakota. It was super cool to see the way the land was and how some parts were under water during that time.

What was your favorite subject when you were a student?
- Social Studies was my favorite. I didn't like memorizing the dates, but I loved to learn about how much things have changed.

Tell us how you either LEARN, LEAD, or GROW in your life, in your personal life or as an educator.
- I LEARN, LEAD, and GROW everyday through my students. Each one challenges me and drives me to do something different to make learning fun. I love when the students realize that I will continue to stick with them to reach their success, because then they just embrace the enviable. They know I care about their success and I am unwilling to give up on them, because they will apply all the skills to make this world a better place.

Meet one of our incredible staff members, Mrs. Alvarez-Jackson who wears many hats as our Multilingual Coordinator, Special Education Teacher, and English Language Arts Co-teacher. A lifelong lover of storytelling, they enjoy everything from classic television favorites to shows like Ted Lasso and Slow Horses, and have always had a passion for English and Theatre. Outside of school, theatre and the arts continue to fuel their creativity and energy, helping them bring passion, growth, and care into the classroom every day.
What is your role at Ridgetop?
- I am the Multilingual Coordinator, Special Education Teacher and English Language Arts Co-teacher.

What is your favorite TV show/movie and why?
- It's quite hard to name just one as I really am a 70's child and grew up on television. I loved Game of Thrones before the last season, Ted Lasso, Beef and Slow Horses are current favorites!

Do you have a favorite childhood memory?
- Spending the occasional lunch time on the beach with my mom, a bag of french fries and an orange crush. Sometimes, she would pick me up from school and take me out for beach lunch if she had a free afternoon. It made me feel super special and is a cherished memory.

What was your favorite subject when you were a student?
- English and Theatre.

Tell us how you either LEARN, LEAD, or GROW in your life, in your personal life or as an educator.
- I learn, lead, and grow by remaining committed to my own growth as an educator and as a person. Being a teacher does not mean that I have stopped learning; in many ways, it challenges me to continue evolving every day! Theatre is a great way for me to grow my joy outside of school and is a pretty essential piece of who I am. If I am art-making through writing, directing, acting or producing, I have more energy to come into the classroom and serve the wonderful students whom I support.
