A place for family and friends to remember a great leader and the wonderful Living and Fallen Warriors. Everyone looks at history differently.
Legacy is something from past; something that is handed down or remains from a previous generation or time. It is the responsibility of legacy predecessors and/or any recipient who benefits from the legacy to keep the legacy alive by any means necessary.

This week, like every week, is filled with great happiness, gratitude, and joy! As we gather to celebrate the many blessings of our heritage and history, we look forward to three significant occasions: the official opening of the Obama Presidential Center and Museum on June 19, the Annual 2026 Juneteenth Celebration, and our cherished Family Gathering: Father’s Day 2026.
What an extraordinary privilege it is to honor these landmark moments and, in particular, to celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, mentors, and father figures whose love, sacrifice, and leadership have strengthened our families and communities. We proudly hold them in the highest regard and celebrate their enduring legacy.
Please join President Michael Hunter, Chairman Dr. Herman Tolbert, Jr., the Board of Directors, and the Sherman Scott Howard Legacy Foundation (SSHLF) constituents and well-wishers as we present special tributes and commemorative presentations in support of this week’s meaningful and purposeful observances.
Together, let us celebrate our history, honor our heroes, and give thanks for the legacy that continues to inspire future generations.

From the Desk of President Michael Hunter, BOD Chairman Dr. Herman Tolbert Jr., Officers, Board of Directors, SSHLF Constituents, and Well-Wishers
we joyfully celebrate with you a very Happy Memorial Day 2026!
On this sacred and reflective occasion, we pause to honor the courageous men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, Memorial Day is a United States holiday, observed on the last Monday in May, dedicated to remembering and honoring those who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
As we gather with family, friends, and loved ones, may we never forget the price of freedom nor the enduring legacy of valor, sacrifice, and patriotism demonstrated by our fallen heroes.
May God continue to bless the families of those who served, strengthen our communities in unity and gratitude, and grant peace to our nation.
“With gratitude we remember. With honor we salute. With humility we cherish their sacrifice.”
Happy Memorial Day 2026! 🇺🇸
Please find peace and joy in this hymn: "In shady green pastures so rich and so sweet" Author: G. A. Young (1903) Tune: GOD LEADS US, Published in 111 hymnals
1 In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet, God leads His dear children along; where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet, God leads His dear children along.
Refrain:
Some through the waters, some through the flood,
some through the fire, but all through the blood;
some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
in the night season and all the day long.
2 Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along; sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night, God leads His dear children along.
3 Though sorrows befall us and Satan oppose, God leads His dear children along; through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,
God leads His dear children along.
4 Away from the mire and away from the clay, God leads His dear children along; away up in glory, eternity’s day,
God leads His dear children along.

A Happy Mother’s Day 2026 Greetings!
With hearts full of gratitude, reverence, and love, we extend warm and joyful Mother’s Day greetings to mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, aunts, sisters, godmothers, and lady guardians everywhere.
Today, we pause to honor very special ladies. First, to my beloved wife, Mrs. Janice Hunter, the beloved wife of our Board of Director Chairman , Mrs. Carolyn Tolbert, each SSH Legacy Foundation brethren spouse and every SSHLF Lady.
Ladies your grace, strength, wisdom, and unwavering love continue to be a guiding light in our homes and in all that we are privileged to do in service to others. Your nurturing spirit and steadfast faith embody the true essence of motherhood.
We lovingly remember our dear fallen BOD member, namely, Mother Queen Ester Hunter, whose legacy of faith, sacrifice, and devotion lives on in every lesson she imparted and every prayer she prayed. Though she now rests in eternity, her love remains a constant presence—guiding, shaping, and comforting.
We also honor the cherished memory of Mother Willa Mae Golden, a devoted and faithful member of the SSHLF Board of Directors. Her life was a testimony of service, compassion, and enduring commitment to the work of the Lord and the uplift of His people.
To the remarkable Ladies of the **Sherman S. Howard Ministry (1955-2004), both the living and those who have gone on to eternal rest—we celebrate your wisdom, and tireless dedication. Your impact continues to bless generations.
We also extend heartfelt appreciation to Aunt Josephine (Bishop Howard’s sister) and to the memory of Mrs. Bertha Howard (Bishop Howard’s mother) and to **mothers **both the living and resting, whose prayers, sacrifices, and steadfast faith have strengthened the church and community alike.
To mothers all around the world, women in authority, caregivers, nurturers, mentors, and pillars of strength—we honor you. Your courage, resilience, and enduring love have not only sustained families but have also advanced God-given human rights, justice, and the sacred principles of dignity and democracy.
On this sacred week and day, we celebrate every mother who has endured much, given selflessly, and loved unconditionally. Your lives are living testimonies of grace and divine purpose. Your love echoes through generations. Your prayers still speak.
May God continue to bless, strengthen, and keep you all.

A Throwback Thursday LEGACY MOMENT
"A PROMISE NOT FORGOTTEN
Lest I forget the legacy
Your love has written deep in me—
In whispered prayers and guiding hands,
In quiet strength that firmly stands.
Through every trial, through joy and tears,
Your faith has carried me through years;
A sacred thread, both strong and true,
A living bond that still renews.
Lest I forget, I’ll always see
Your love lives on—inside of me.
Dedicated to Legacy Keepers everywhere...
