In , nearly 3.7 million children under 5 experienced acute this past year alone.

Oftentimes, malnutrition impacts a child's ability to stand, walk, and grow. That's why HI teams implement stimulation therapy: play-based sessions that build cognitive, motor, and emotional development alongside nutritional recovery, with caregivers coached every step of the way.

Since launching in mid-2025, HI has reached 730 children across Kunduz and Kabul, helping them stand and take their very first steps!

From the rapid melting of Andean glaciers to the destruction of the Amazon forest, is experiencing severe effects of climate change, with women, young people, and individuals with disabilities often affected the most.

Through our "Guardians of Change" project, HI teams are training students, supporting organizations of people with disabilities, and helping communities in the Amazon and the Andes build climate solutions that leave no one behind.

From floating vegetable gardens to a two-mile urban ecological corridor, real change is happening because everyone has a seat at the table! 🌱

Did you know that HI’s community-based rehabilitation center in Kampong Cham, has been welcoming patients since 1992?

For over thirty years, our teams of physical therapists, prosthetists, orthotists, and social workers have been making rehabilitation services more widely accessible to thousands of people in need, because everyone deserves the chance to move forward. 💙

Our teams on the ground in are still doing everything they can to help communities after the devastating flash floods. In the wake of this disaster, HI is supporting survivors, particularly children, by providing urgent rehabilitation and mental health care.

“My role allows me to stand alongside people who are going through one of the most difficult times of their lives, to listen to their stories, to acknowledge their suffering and to help them take small steps towards recovery," shares Saniya Karki, a Psychosocial Support Officer at HI. "I am determined to carry on and to reach those who need it most as the emergency response continues.”

Remember Omaid?

A few months ago, we shared the news that he was preparing to receive his first prosthetic leg. Now, we have an exciting update.

After his prosthesis was fitted, Omaid returned to HI’s rehabilitation center in for follow-up sessions and gait training. And now, he’s taking his first steps with his new prosthesis! 🎉

Omaid was just five years old when he was injured by a and had to have his leg amputated. We’re so happy to see how far he’s come!💙

The Cluster Munition Monitor 2026 report has officially been released! It paints a mixed picture of significant humanitarian progress amidst serious new challenges to the international norm.

Once again, this year's findings reveal that and their remnants continued to impact civilians disproportionately - a stark reminder that these indiscriminate weapons are banned for a reason.
