Congratulations to my student Jack in his Passport to Music performance! He is not only performing around town but hasn't missed a step preparing pieces for my studio recital! Keep up the good work Jack!

I was so pleased to attend a concert with my student Janice Onorato in Fairbanks Alaska! She has been playing with the Fairbanks Community Band for a few years and they did a Christmas concert with a variety of pieces. Santa even showed up! (I got some candy canes too!)

So for my long distance students, I am very happy to come to hear you play someday!

Remy just marched with his band today! He looks very professional in his marching band uniform and I'm sure it went great! Keep up the good work Remy!

My student Melanie has been wanting to play for her church for all two years we've been working together and today she did it!! Definitely not the last time!

My student Remy is playing Barcarolle by Offenbach, from the Tales of Hoffman! We had a lot of fun rehearsing this duet and learned a lot along the way. Bravo Remy! 🙌

My student Jack is playing "Largo al Factotum" from the Barber of Seville on baritone sax! This is the first time I've ever had a student play this aria and Jack always wants to play hardest music he can find! This one has lots of challenges which he overcame, pushing his playing farther. Good job Jack!

Congratulations to members of my Saxophone Choir! We had solo performances by Thomas Tallis, folk songs, Demesserman and Offenbach, and the choir performed music by Debussy, Beethoven, Gregorio Allegri and Amy Beach. I gave them a huge challenge and saw enormous improvement in just a few months!

Next year we are doing "Piano Classics" and "The Music of Animals" so stay tuned!

Thank you so much to my student Jack and his family for GIVING me a saxophone that was given to them, when he already has two instruments! It's by a wonderful coincidence that this is the exact model of my first saxophone, which was a Selmer Bundy hand-me-down from my brother. This one has been sitting around for 30 years and the picture definitely doesn't capture the *aroma* from a long unused saxophone!

Teaching in my new location at The Falls Church Episcopal church, in Falls Church VA! I just started offering saxophone lessons here, but this student is actually getting ready for Saxophone Choir! I love the space and they are so generous to let me use a classroom in the Day School.

This is my student Damien, who only started playing at the end of 2024! He already has a video made! The piece he's playing is a Kazakh piece called Kozimnin Karasy, or "The Apple of my Eye", with the poetry written by renowned poet Abay Kunanbayev. It's not clear whether he also wrote the music, and many have added to the melody, modernizing it. It is a treasured song which is often played at cultural events across Kazakhstan.

Thank you so much to this family for sharing their culture and music, and for Damien's hard work getting the piece ready in such a short time!

My student Benjy's mom said she found this picture, it's from 2019 and I'm still teaching Benjy! His voice is like 10 octaves lower now 😂 I can't believe it's been 6 years...

A huge congratulations to my student Gavin!! He was just awarded a $45,000 a year scholarship to his top choice school, San Francisco Conservatory! He's working on getting more funds to cover the rest but this is super huge! I told him "Did you know, all your hard work and practice is worth $180,000?" He was shocked because he hadn't thought of it like that. I think he's worth more, personally!

I also want to shout out his mom. A few years ago he was accepted into the Baltimore School for the Arts and she MOVED to Baltimore so he could go. Since then he also plays in ensembles at my alma mater, Peabody Conservatory. What a bright future for this talented, hard-working young man! Go get 'em Gavin!
