It was wonderful to hear from Jill, Rebecca and Ronke - all Institute graduates and Barrie teachers. Their presentations were inspiring and thoughtful.
It has been great to hear presentations from other Institute graduates throughout the event as well.

Such a great start to the AMS Montessori Event. Teacher Educators Day was wonderful and thought provoking. Plus we all received a copy of the new publication from AMS - with a chapter co-authored by Institute instructor Melissa Kelly!

On Friday, I had the opportunity to visit Institute alumni, Melinda C. (EC class of 2005). Melinda serves as Assitant Director of a program in NC. The facilty is beautiful and it was great to connect with Melinda as she shared details about the school.
It is so wonderful to connect with Institute graduates and to learn of the important work they continue to do!

On Sunday, we lost a member of our Institute family. Debbie Kukielka was an Institute instructor, level coordinator, consultant, supervising teacher, mentor, workshop presenter and support person. But more importantly, Debbie was our dear friend.
Debbie started working with the Institute in 1999. Debbie shared her passion for Montessori education with hundreds of adult learners around the globe, presenting lessons to ensure understanding and helping all to find the joy in what they were doing. Debbie loved supporting adult learners, connecting with all.
As we learned of Debbie's passing earlier this week, many instructors shared their own memories.
"Debbie went beyond her duties at the Institute. She was a friend and always ready to help anyone."
"She was a friend and mentor; she did so much for everyone she met. I will be thinking about her girls and the grandkids, her pride and joy."
"Debbie was the glue that kept us straight. She will surely be missed. "
"Ms. Debbie was an amazing person and a truly dedicated Montessorian."

We are all so lucky to have been able to know and work with Debbie - and to call her our friend and part of our family. She has left a lasting impact on us all.

Last weekend our Adult Learners returned to campus for the November seminar session. It was wonderful to see everyone and to focus on shared learning. Adult Learners were engaged in deep thinking and collaboration, processing connections between lessons and materials, and an opportunity to reconnect as a community.
