Prior to 1847 the area currently refer to as the Republic of Liberia was known as the Grain Coast. The name originated from the abundance of melegueta pepper that was readily available along this coastal land situated between Cape Mesurado and Cape Palmas. The pepper was refer to as grains of paradise by the Portuguese who traded with the local inhabitants. At grain-coast.com, we intend to provide our listeners with a variety of music, news, and talk show. Our goal is to initiate and inspire dialogues that would result in good governance in Liberia and the entire West Africa region. It can be done. Remember the Pan African Congress, though lacking in financial and political power helped to increase international awareness of racism and colonialism, and laid the foundation for political independence of African Nations.
