Ransomware is a type of malware that will lock your important files and then demand a ransom to allegedy restore them. The most recent version of ransomware is named "wannacry" and is believed to have originated in North Korea. Numerous businesses around the world have been hit with this malware. Indications are that if you pay the ransom, your files will NOT be recovered.

Steps you can take to avoid ransomware is to 1. Keep your computer patched with the most recent updates, 2. Do not open any email attachments unless you really trust the source, and 3. Keep your system backed up.
