Today a group of film artists spent the day filming various scenes for a documentary they are working on regarding Napoleon. They used our place as a back drop to set the scene. This might be a first for the house to be used as a stage set in a film.

We picked up our custom milled white oak plank to be used to make the threshold for our front door. The original threshold will be used as a pattern and kept in the archives but it is no longer functional after more than two centuries of greeting guests into the home/inn. The mill made the plank longer than anticipated so we might have enough extra to do a second door threshold as well. Score!

Just in time for the season of darkness, when night comes far too soon, we have a new, hand forged iron chandelier created based on period examples by master blacksmith, Lucas Novko. Complete with forged ceiling hook and forged chain. It illuminates one of the original tavern rooms so perfectly!

Installing a newly built wooden combination storm/screen onto this window just in time for winter. Fully painted with linseed oil paint. Now, every window in the heated section of the house is fitted with custom wooden storm windows to reduce heating costs AND protect the antique windows.

Today we hosted the first ever regional German get together! Everyone gathered over food and drink, conversed with each other in German and took in the sounds of the accordion. It was fun!! Big shout out to Jan Moses who organized and made this entire event the success that it was! He sure did work hard to make this event happen as perfectly as it was!
