Happy fall, ya’ll! The Loft has been busy with baby showers, first birthdays, and other private events. We have seen many more people rent our beloved studio for their special day this year. We love being a community space to host these celebrations! 🥳

Although we are not planning to host a holiday market this year, we are getting a planning team together to look at what public events or classes we want to host in the future. We would also love to hear your ideas. You can post here, or if you would like to get involved, email [email protected] 💛

We will have a mini open house on Monday, March 27th, 6-7 pm. Come check out the space. Inquire about renting the studio for private parties or your next workshop. Learn about membership opportunities and coworking at the Loft. Jaki will be there to answer questions.

This Monday is also a great opportunity to check out our neighbor’s photography studio North City Studio] They have a wonderful monthly speaker series on the fourth Monday of each month, 7-9 pm. This Monday Heidi Leonard will be their guest speaker. Heidi will be sharing her process with creative portraitures. RSVP North City Studio] for the speaker series event. We hope to see you!

We’re thinking about new programming at the Loft. Perhaps an art class for kids? Kids and caregivers? Drop-off classes for kids and then caregivers can enjoy a moment of solitude. What ages? 5 to 8 and 9 to 12? What’s an affordable price point for families? Would love to hear any thoughts you have. ❤️

Founded by Jaki McQuiston, The Creativity Loft (“The Loft”) is a community space for artistic expression and healing. My love and practice of art started when I was very young. I have taken classes and practiced in many fine art mediums, including; painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, jewelry making, mosaics, sewing, knitting, and other crafts. My desire is to bring the healing possibilities of art practice to those who may be suffering from loss, depression, anxiety, and/or stress. As well as, the opportunity to be with a supportive community and practice your art.

I have been dreaming about this community space for many years. I remember writing a paper in high school about the lack of community spaces and at that time my concern was specifically for teenagers, like myself. My dream has been to create a space for creatives that is both inspiring and supportive. A home away from home. A place that not only provides opportunities to expand your work, but empowers people to believe in themselves, take risks, and reach their success, whatever that looks like.

Recently, I experienced tragedy. My son was born at the end of April, 2018. He was not well which we’d had no indication of prior to his birth. He lived only 11 days. While my experience was devastating and continues to be challenging in my grief, I experienced such beautiful moments with him and the people who have supported my husband, daughter, and me in this journey. The light that my son has given me is about fully showing up to whatever life gives you. So when this creativity space became available, I saw its opportunity. Listening to my inner voice, I ran with it… one step at a time.
