🟠 SAFETY THURSDAY

Not all stakes are created equal.

To most people, a stake is just a piece of metal in the ground.

To a trained inflatable operator, it is one of the most important parts of the anchoring system.

One of the biggest misconceptions in our industry is that any stake will do.

Plastic tent stakes.
Tiny tarp stakes.
Bent pieces of rebar.
Landscaping spikes.

We have seen all of them used.

The problem is that an anchor is only as strong as its ability to transfer force into the ground.

If a stake bends during installation, it has already lost part of its holding ability.

That is one reason we use heavy-duty Hogan 18" steel stakes for most applications.

They are designed to withstand the forces involved in inflatable anchoring without deforming during installation.

In fact, we can often drive them through asphalt without bending them.

That strength matters.

Because anchoring is not just about keeping an inflatable in place.

It is about controlling force safely.

If you ever want to know whether an inflatable was professionally anchored, here are a few things to look for:

βœ” Are all anchor points being used?
βœ” Are the stakes substantial or do they look like tent stakes?
βœ” Are they steel?
βœ” Are they driven fully into the ground?
βœ” Are they sitting flush instead of sticking up?

These are small details.

But small details are often what separate a professional setup from a risky one.

As parents, we have even removed our own children from inflatables when we noticed bent stakes, incomplete anchoring, and stakes that were not fully driven into the ground.

Not because something had already happened.

Because we understood what could happen.

At Fun and Done, we believe safety starts long before the first child climbs inside.

It starts with the equipment, the setup, and the decisions nobody else notices.

Before today, did you know there were different types of stakes used for inflatables? πŸ‘‡
