The art in gardening by Angie Windheim. For over 20 years I have been the patron of a two acre piece of art. I sometimes seed and shape and encourage her work.

This little homestead in Oregon is an ever-evolving canvas for Mother Nature. Mostly I observe and attempt to fully appreciate the beauty in the details. The earth laughs in flowers and rests in the dappled light of trees. Kindness Roots is my way to share the joy and the art in gardening. So with my camera and my flower press, I invite you to see the simple delights found in a friend’s backyard. Welcome to Kindness Roots!

My presses are open for local preservation projects in 2026. Our emotional attachment to flowers - whether it's grandma's garden or a wedding bouquet - makes personal pieces incredibly special to create. https://angiewindheim.com/blog/2026/01/wedding-flower-preservation/

Finally framed. The first one arrived shattered 😳 But this one is perfect and listed in the marketplace. Who needs a “Sunshine Day” in 2025?

A quick sale on a brand new piece called "Sunshine Day." Anybody else hear The Brady Bunch singing that song right now? You can score this 16x20 print in its life-like detail for 30% off until Dec. 15th. Most of my prints are discounted, but this is the biggest. Cause I love it and it's likely the last piece completed in 2024. Link in comments. No code needed. But you can get and additional $5 off from Etsy with code LASTCHANCE24. That ends Weds.

This is a favorite. It was such a delight to create. The style was inspired by William Morris and it was an experiment well worth repeating.

If you feel like playing find the flower, you can look for: hellebore, rose, rabbit's foot clover, fuchsia, alyssum, phlox, daisy, yarrow, aster, pie w**d, coral bells and more.

I've got her up on the marketplace... it will be hard to part with this one!

A duo of duo pieces are framed and ready to go! Can be separated, but breaking up is hard to duo.

I've been having a jolly good time in my studio this week! The 2024 Christmas Tree collection is wrapped up 🎁 Original work and prints all up for grabs. I'll share more detail pics soon. 🎄

This new piece has a frilly vintage Victorian feel to it. Do you agree? Many shades of hydrangeas are balanced by Queen Anne's lace, Japanese anemone and more.

Hydrangeas have been depicted in Japanese paintings and mentioned in poetry as far back as 710 A.D. They are often planted in Buddhist temple gardens and are used in ceremonies for Buddha's birthday. They are said to heartfelt emotion whether it be gratitude or apology.

The Victorians actually decided hydrangea represented vanity, bragging, and boastfulness. Well, if you got it, flaunt it, right?

The original 18x24" is up for grabs. Prints will be available in the shop very soon.

This gorgeous rose is such a delightful surprise. I could never claim to be good with roses, but “Princess Alexandra of Kent” makes me look like I know what I’m doing.

I’m still working on the perfect pressing method. These two cooperated quite well! From my garden to your gallery wall! The oval 9x11 frame is vintage and the mounting paper is a handmade cotton.

Ginkgo leaves are celebrated symbols of hope, strength, and resilience. The lifespan of the ginkgo tree can be well over a thousand years, and has been traced back to before the Mesozoic Era. Some call the tree a “living fossil.” Ginkgo have been known to survive disasters that nothing else could. The elegant leaves of the gingko represent peace amidst destruction; stability during upheaval; hope in the face of despair.
