There's a kind of work nobody photographs.
In her new letter for Letters from Rural Texoma, our Executive Chair Dr. JoAngeli Zertuche-Kasper writes about it honestly: the 8 AM Tuesday meetings at the Sherman Chamber of Commerce, the sponsor calls about liability and what "family-friendly" means for families like ours, the introductions to people who haven't yet decided whether they support us. The practiced calm of staying in the room when the easier thing would be to leave.
It's all in service of undoing one national story, that LGBTQ+ people are something to fear. The truth is closer to home than that. It's a child figuring out who they are. It's your neighbor who waves from her porch. It's your mother who hasn't been able to call her son. It's your friend, carrying something alone that you could help her hold.
That's who Pride Festival is for. That's who it's in defense of.
Every chair, every flag, every booth on June 13 is there because someone made a call, wrote an email, or sat at a table full of strangers and stayed long enough to be heard. You won't see any of that on the day. You'll just see the room.
Come see what we've built. June 13, downtown Sherman, 10 AM to 4 PM. 🌼

And the title for our upcoming Drag Show is Poisoned Meadows: Thorns & Roses! Thank you to everyone who took a guess at the title last week!
🌹☠️ Leather. Lace. Lip syncs. Legends. ☠️🌹
Step into the wild and wicked world of Poisoned Meadows: Thorns N’ Roses - a 18+, high-voltage drag spectacular where glam rock rebellion meets hair metal excess. From teased hair and fishnets to electric guitars and smoky ballads, this show is serving unapologetic attitude, larger-than-life performances, and enough glitter to rival the Sunset Strip.
Get ready for a night of powerhouse drag, iconic rock anthems, and dangerously seductive energy as our cast transforms the stage into a neon garden of chaos and beauty. Whether you’re here for the headbanging hits, the dramatic ballads, or the fierce fashion, this is one show that will leave you screaming for an encore.
💋 Dress loud.
🎸 Sing louder.
🌹 Beware the thorns.
