Life is such a challenge, such a joy to live when it is appreciated. If we could only realize who gave us life, we would understand even more why the Creator intended us to appreciate and love all that is about us. The things we can appreciate are never in any particular order, but mingled together as they are in our lives. We can so beautifully and joyfully appreciate the sound of our children's laughter when sudden happiness overtakes them; the tremendous and moving power of silent prayer; a strong voice singing a song of inspiration, or of sentiment; early morning sunrises, misty pink and fresh; a mockingbird singing out its heart in the depth of night; the touch of souls in understanding; violin music; and our children in prayer; in spells of delight, or in any other moment. To name them all would be an impossibility, to live them all is a blessing. We must not pass these things by without appreciating them. We must not lose them by failing to give thanks. These are the things we always have near us, and we can appreciate them merely by attuning our senses to them.

FRANCES TWO BIRDS was 20 years old in 1925. The artistic portrait became the cover photo for "A Northern Cheyenne Album: Photographs by Thomas B. Marquis." Frances’s father was Peter Two Birds. She married Hector Knows His Guns, a man of primarily Crow descent, and she was then known as Frances Two Birds Knows His Guns. She was an early speaker of English, and gave birth to nine children.

Thomas Marquis was a Montana doctor, photographer, and historian. His volumes on the Battle of the Little Big Horn are studied today. Marquis learned Plains Indian sign language. He interviewed and photographed elders who had been present at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876, including some of the people who had been photographed decades earlier by L.A. Huffman. Born June 22, 1952, on the Six Nations Reserve in Ohsweken, Ontario, Mr. Greene is a 73 year old FIRST NATIONS Canadian actor who belongs to the ONEIDA tribe. He has worked on stage, in film, and in TV productions in Canada, the U.K., and the U.S.

He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his 1990 performance in "Dances with Wolves". Other films you may have seen him in include Thunderheart, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, the Green Mile, and Wind River. Graham Greene graduated from the Centre for Indigenous Theatre in 1974 & immediately began performing in professional theatre in Toronto and England, while also working as an audio technician for area rock bands. His TV debut was in 1979 and his screen debut in 1983. His acting career has now spanned over 4 decades & he remains as busy as ever. In addition to the Academy Award nomination for Dance with Wolves, he has been consistently recognized for his work, and also received nominations in 1994, 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2016. Graham Greene lives in Toronto, Canada, married since 1994, and has 1 adult daughter.

He was born on July 24, 1899, belonging to the Tsleil-Waututh (Salish) tribe, in a settlement near North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He became widely known for his acting career, especially in films portraying Indigenous characters.

"The Three Spirits of the Storm"

In a time when the world was young and wild, storms were more than weather — they were alive, guardians of nature's balance. Among them roamed three sacred horses, each marked by powerful colors and ancient symbols. They were called The Spirits of the Storm.

The first was Korran, the Black Horse of Fury. His mane cracked like lightning, his hooves summoned thunder. Korran carried the spirit of raw power, reminding the world that destruction, though feared, clears the way for new beginnings.

The second was Veya, the White Horse of Clarity. She moved like the winds after the rain, graceful and pure. Veya whispered to the rivers and forests, teaching that peace follows every tempest, and stillness is just as mighty as rage.

The third was Rhaelo, the Painted Horse of Balance. Marked with swirling patterns of red and black, Rhaelo held the sacred duty of weaving Korran and Veya’s opposing forces together. He was neither chaos nor calm, but the bridge between — the symbol that harmony comes only when opposites respect each other.

When storms raged across mountains and darkened the skies, the people would pray to the Three Spirits. It is said that if they rode in unity, the storm would pass gently, feeding the earth without tearing it apart.

One night, a young shaman asked the spirits in his dream,
"Which of you is the greatest?"

The horses answered together in a voice of wind and rain:
"None alone. Fury teaches respect. Peace offers healing. Balance carries both. Together, we are whole."

To this day, when thunder rolls and lightning dances above, the wise know the Three Spirits are riding once more —
"Not to bring fear, but to remind the world that strength, peace, and balance must always run together."
