Some food for thought

Just because an athlete can get into a position doesn’t mean she owns that position. You can teach great mechanics, but if the mobility, stability, strength, and body awareness aren’t there, the body will find another way.

Injuries are rarely caused by one thing. They are usually the result of multiple factors working together over time.The best results happen when coaches, athletes, parents, strength coaches, and healthcare professionals work together with one goal in mind: Helping the athlete stay healthy, move efficiently, and reach her full potential.

Because at the end of the day, the body doesn’t throw according to what it’s taught. It throws according to the mobility and stability available.

That’s why we’re committed to developing the whole athlete—not just the mechanics.

One of my favorite parts of coaching has nothing to do with pitching.

This week, we started a new tradition at Pitchers Elite called “Manner of the Week”. Each week we’ll spend a little time focusing on life skills and character—not just softball.

This week’s challenge is simple:

Introduce yourself.

The ability to walk up to someone, make eye contact, and say, “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met yet,” is a skill that will serve our athletes long after their playing careers are over.

We’re trying to raise confident young women, not just better pitchers.
