October has been a fruitful month, thanks to our beloved AAPC authors! Dr. Sheri Wilkins and Carol Burmeister had such fun training for an entire group of educators on October 10th. That was aProfessional Development Day for the Fontana Unified District, and Special Education Department organized an all-day presentation with Flipp 2.0 content. During the event, attendees had guided participant conversations in which they discussed how each strategy could benefit any student--not just those with autism but others lacking competent executive function.
There was also a make-and-take component during which participants eagerly and creatively constructed several visual supports to take back and implement to engage their students. The participants left with a good understanding of how explicitly teaching executive function skills during preschool through high school years set students up for success in adulthood. We proudly celebrate Dr. Sheri Wilkins and Carol Burmeister working with educators and supporting our community!
