Sometimes it isn’t one symptom that tells the story.

It’s the pattern.

Walking becomes slower or more shuffled. Thinking takes longer. Then urinary urgency or accidents begin.

Families may assume these changes are simply aging—or that dementia is progressing. But when these three changes appear together, there may be another possibility worth investigating:

‼️ Walking changes—shuffling, slower steps, balance problems, or falls

‼️ Cognitive changes—slower thinking, confusion, or difficulty following steps

‼️Urinary changes—urgency, accidents, or incontinence

This pattern can sometimes point to Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, or NPH.

NPH can look like dementia, but it is a different condition—and for some people, treatment may improve symptoms.

One important clue: walking changes often appear first.

If you’re noticing this combination, document what you’re seeing and share the complete pattern with a healthcare professional.

Comment NPH if you want Part 2, where I’ll explain what to track, what to ask the doctor, and how to advocate when your concerns are being dismissed.

Please share this with a family who keeps saying, “Something is changing, but we don’t know why.”

A fall is rarely “just a fall.”

When someone is living with dementia, the details surrounding a fall can help us understand what may be changing.

What happened before the fall?

Was it a certain time of day?

Could medication, vision, footwear, weakness, or something in the environment have contributed?

One moment doesn’t tell the story. Patterns over time do.

That’s why I created the FREE Dementia Fall Safety Toolkit™ + Companion Workbook—to help families track what happened, recognize possible patterns, prepare better questions, and decide what to do next.

“We thought it meant she was getting worse.”

I still remember a family whispering those words to me.

Their mom had started seeing people no one else could see.

They tried correcting her.

They tried ignoring it.

But every night…

Her fear got worse.

The hallucinations weren’t the biggest problem.

The fear was.

In this video, I explain why hallucinations happen, why arguing usually doesn’t help, and what families can do instead.

📥 I’ve also created a FREE Dementia Hallucination Response Guide to help you respond with greater confidence.

🛑 Stop.

Please don’t argue with someone who is hallucinating because of dementia.

When you say…“That’s not real.”
“No one is there.”
“You’re imagining things.”
…you may accidentally increase their fear.

To them, the hallucination feels real.

Instead of correcting what they see, focus on helping them feel safe.

In this video, I’ll show you three simple responses that can calm the situation while protecting your relationship.

Because the goal isn’t to win an argument…
It’s to preserve trust, reduce fear, and respond with confidence.

If your loved one seems completely fine one day… and completely different the next…

Don’t ignore it.

It may not be random.

It may be the pattern.

In this video, I explain one of the biggest reasons Lewy Body Dementia is often misunderstood—and what you should start tracking before the next doctor’s appointment.

What if your loved one is having hallucinations… and no one ever told you that dementia can cause them?

They insist there’s a little boy sitting on the couch.

You look.

No one is there.

You don’t know whether to correct them…

call the doctor…

or wonder if something else is going on.

The truth is…

Hallucinations can be one of the hallmark symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia (LBD), one of the most misunderstood forms of dementia.

In this episode of Dementia Decoded™, I explain:

✔️ Why hallucinations happen

✔️ Why symptoms fluctuate

✔️ Why Lewy Body Dementia is often mistaken for other conditions

✔️ What families should be watching for

If this sounds like someone you love, comment “LBD” below.

If enough families ask, I’ll create Part 2, where we’ll talk about what to track, how to respond to hallucinations, and what to discuss with your healthcare provider.

Please share this with someone who needs answers—not judgment.

Families don’t usually fall apart because of dementia.

They fall apart because no one explained what was happening.

Dementia is more than memory loss. It can change judgment, communication, emotions, and behavior—and understanding that can change everything.

Most families don’t know the difference between home care, assisted living, memory care, or Home Plus… until they’re suddenly forced to make a decision.

And when that moment comes, the overwhelm is real.

In this episode of Dementia, Decoded™, I break down:
• The different levels of senior living support
• When each option actually makes sense
• And how families can begin making more informed, confident care decisions

Because not every care option fits every stage.

And choosing support isn’t “giving up.”
Sometimes… it’s the safest and most compassionate next step.
