Summer can be such a great time to experiment and try new things. It can also feel overwhelming because every part of our schedule gets shuffled around. Somehow in the fray, we screwed up. A generous customer had offered to host a Pride event in the Bookshop and WE dropped the ball. ☹️

I post this because I want you to know that I have a commitment to carry LGBTQIA books in my Bookshop year-round, and that is not just exclusive to Pride Month in June.

So when we can get it rescheduled, we will post a PRIDE FAMILY NIGHT.... Give me a shout if you would like to receive a personal reminder text or email!

You don't even have to get far into book one to see references to Carl using a slingshot... Which got us thinking... "Why again do we not sell slingshots??"

Slingshots are big in our family on a personal level also. As rumor would have it, would my Grandpa died the desk area at his company was filled with an assortment of different varieties of slingshots and rubber band guns.

I share all of this with you because we finally have slingshots on the shelves!!

If you ask me, this makes a perfect gift for any Dungeon Crawler Carl reader, especially those just starting the journey...

This also makes a great Father's Day gift!

Each package comes with a handmade in the USA slingshot and an array of colorful felt ammo. And I have just placed them on shelves!!

One of our Audiobook Clubs meets at 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. And while this might sound *crazy* to some people, we actually saw this group grow last week!

Getting up and getting to the Bookshop by 8:00 a.m. to listen to a chapter is not JUST about the book, obviously. It's also about socializing in an easy and comfortable way. And it's about the very thing that's in this article that I am sharing too.

Our brains ALL need rest AND socialization.

Audiobook Club scratches both of those itches at the same time! And then you have the rest of your day ahead of you...

You should get off the fence and join us sometime. We have Audiobook Clubs running in a whole range of time slots. And if we have enough requests for a new time slot, it's not a problem to start one up. Come join us!

Psychology says the exhaustion of modern life often isn’t from overwork: It’s from the fact that we’ve eliminated every attention gap, and the brain never gets the empty space it needs to recover In our bustling modern world, the rush of daily life rarely grants us the luxury of stillness. The unending stimulation stretches our mental reserves thin, contributing to an ever-increasing sense of fatigue. Just as our bodies need rest, our minds crave moments of tranquility to rejuvenate. Simple....

Are you looking for a birthday gift for someone? Any age will do!

I only have two of these kits left from my first order.... that's how hugely popular these have been! And I haven't stopped to tell you about them even once.. so let me fix that:

This is Birthday. Birthday is a little bit like Elf on a Shelf. You pull this adorable stuffed animal out when someone in your household or workplace has a birthday coming up. You can pose the figure in whatever way you like. You could celebrate all week, if you want.

This gives seniors a giggle.
It gets children excited.

It even makes grumpy people who don't like special attention on their birthday....smile!

Birthday comes in a special presentation box with a colorful, large format book that explains the story of how birthdays came to be and how they should be celebrated.

Face it. We all need more traditions, not less. We need more things that we pull out each year because this is how we build memories, individually and collectively.

I think all of that explains why This item has sold so well in my store without me having to make a post Or describe it too much in person. Just like elf on a shelf, it's one of those heartwarming things that feels like a no-brainer. We all need a little fun. I'll consider ordering more, but in the meantime I have two left. If you would like one come and claim it. 🤷🏻‍♀️🎂🥰

YES, we have Whistler.

And YES, this one is guaranteed to be a book club pic at most of the general interest reading book clubs around town this year. It covers all the bases. Drama. Heartwarming moments. Family or maybe I should say found family. Memory. Including making new memories. And forgiveness. That's a pretty key theme.

The official publisher description is as follows:

Middle-aged English teacher Daphne Fuller experiences a chance encounter at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that reunites her with Eddie, her former stepfather. The two were separated for over four decades following a harrowing winter car crash when Daphne was nine years old. The narrative shifts between the present and flashbacks to that snowy night when he stepfather tried to comfort her in the child, winter tragedy.

I know who David Hockney is because I have an artist mother, an artist father, and because I have a bookstore that sells Little People Big Dreams books... And illustrated childlike version of David Hockney Is currently in the store and on the wall.

I sometimes wonder how many children no who all of the famous names and faces are in that book series. They know who Messi is but do they know who Pele was? They know who Vincent van Gogh was but do they know who Andy Warhol or Yayoi Kusama are?

My Little People Big Dreams wall is filled with hardback and paperback versions of the books, and even when I can find them as remainder overstock... I even offer discounted copies! Baseball is a great resource for educating children on Real Life Heroes past and present.

RIP Dvid Hockney

The Libro.fm BOGO SALE STARTS TODAY....

https://libro.fm/shop7stories

Use the link above to buy audiobook credits and support our store. Using Libby through the public library is free and fantastic, but diversifying by also using Libro is one really great way to listen to audiobooks and still support small businesses like ours! ❤️ And Libro is the most ethical choice if you plan to buy an audiobook, because when you use our link they give a kick back immediately to our store as if you came in our store and purchased a book across the counter.

We sing Libro's praises all the time not just because of that financial kickback though.... unlike Amazon owned audible, when you buy a book from Libro it is your book! Your lifetime audiobook to move around between your phone and other devices. You're not checking it out like an audiobook library loan. You're not going to load up your books like you do on your Kindle only to open your device up one day and see all your books gone.

THANK YOU for supporting our store through your Libro purchases! 🤩 We see you and we appreciate you.

Enjoy the BOGO SALE!!

Lately... our Travis + Taylor section has been pretty Taylor-heavy. So when we learned the Kelce Brothers had a book coming out, we were automatically sold!

No Dumb Questions brings together questions from listeners of their show/podcast, along with the conversations and heated debates they cause.

Ranging from genuinely insightful to completely ridiculous. This is the kind of book that you can pick up, read a few pages, and immediately find yourself sharing/quoting.

Just in time for Father's Day, and a great option for anyone who likes sports, podcasts, humor, or books that don't feel like a chore to read.
