This section of the Blue Ridge Parkway has re-opened which means you still have time to hike my favorite fall trail while the leaves are pretty. 🍂 📍 Rough Ridge Overlook Trail 🚗 1 hour & 45 min from Asheville, NC. 40 min from Boone, NC. 🥾1.2 miles out & back 💪 Moderate If you’d like a longer option, this is my favorite route - 📍 Rough Ridge via Linn Cove Viaduct Visitor Center 🥾 4 miles out & back 💪 Moderate Here’s what you need to know about hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway post-Helene 🌀 ↠ The only section of the Blue Ridge Parkway open in North Carolina currently (as of 10/24) is milepost 285.5 (Bamboo Gap) to milepost 305 (Beacon Heights.) ↠ Commercial vehicles are prohibited and violators will be fined up to $5,000 ↠ Use extra caution when visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anticipate closed facilities and trails and follow local signage. ↠ Be aware that trail assessments have not been completed and caution should be exercised while hiking. Visitors may encounter hazards on trails like landslides, tree debris and washed out sections or bridges. 📸 This video was taken in October 2023. This may be common knowledge for most, but I’m just learning about it.

If you shop at Kroger, you need to link a charity to your Kroger card! It takes 5 minutes in the Kroger app and costs nothing. You shop as usual, but your purchases are also earning money for your charity.

To enroll, open the menu in the Kroger app, click on rewards then community rewards, choose your charity, click enroll, and you’re finished. If anyone has a charity they’d like to recommend, let me know in the comments.

DO NOT DO THIS! Video shows a group pulling a black bear cub out of a tree in Asheville, North Carolina. A biologist found only one cub at the scene, which is currently at a rehab facility and will be released back into the wild.
