Good morning friends,

A brush fire started in the Wears Valley community yesterday around 11:00AM. Extremely high winds caused the fire to rapidly spread and grow. Mandatory evacuations we're put in place through Wears Valley and toward Chapman Highway in Seymour. Wears Valley Road is now closed at the Pigeon Forge city limits according to the Pigeon Forge Police Department.

Early morning rain has doused the area and we are hopeful that this will help in containing the fires.

If you have plans to visit the area in the coming days:
Call prior to your visit to ensure that it is safe to be in the area.
Most of the tourism areas (outside of the Wears Valley community) should be operating as normal, but please be considerate to our neighbors as some are processing the fire damage to our local area.

Please continue to pray for the safety of our firefighters, first responders, families, local business owners and everyone that is being affected by the fire.
