It is with a very heavy heart that I have to close my salon permanently. I hung on as long as I could, but I just can't stay open any longer. Thank you to all my wonderful, loyal clients. I will miss you all, and wish you all nothing but happiness and peace🤗

From a fellow stylist 🤣🤣
3rd day back, rushing to clean before next client, wiping shampoo bowl down and turn on hose. Now I'm sopping wet and so is the whole salon 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I will have a reopen date nailed down by early next week & will be contacting clients for appt scheduling!
Stay tuned!

Just an F.Y.I..
I shut down the salon the week of March 8th. A couple weeks later it became clear that we were in this for a while, so I cancelled all future appointments until further notice. I made a list of clients in order of appointment dates that were canceled. When it is time to start scheduling again, I will be rescheduling in that order: starting with the first clients I had to cancel. When I've made it through those people, I will call or text everyone else- either in the order I was contacted, or alphabetically.
I just don't know any other way to reschedule 60+ people fairly. Also, remember from my last post, I will have about half the amount of time available to schedule appointments because 1. I am prohibited from double booking, and 2. I have to have time to disinfect entire salon between each client. So far, you all have been extremely patient. I thank you, and ask for continued patience going forward. Stay healthy. Stay kind. 🤗
*******UPDATE BELOW*******
A LETTER TO MY CLIENTS:
I realize that Phase 2 is quickly approaching (earliest June 1), but I need to let my clients know a few things..
Salon Need-To-Knows:
1. There are state requirements for Cosmetologists that must be followed. Consequences for non-compliance during surprise-inspections are loss of license and hefty fines. The Washington State Board of Cosmetology has not released a list of requirements or guidelines for reopening salons. Furthermore, the guidelines for Phase 2 released by the Governor is vague and incomplete. There are people working on getting specifics, but these things take time.
2. Currently, there are a few requirements listed in regard to PPE for stylists and clients. These items are not just sitting on the shelves of Walmart. I have to find a distributor in my industry or in the medical industry that isn't sold-out of the items I need.
3. Even before Covid-19, I was/am trained in proper disinfection techniques required by the state. However, those requirements have multiplied. As with the PPE, the supplies I need aren't just hanging out at Walmart.
4. From what I am reading thus far, there will be a lot to do in between each client. What this means is that appointments will be spaced further apart. The days of me having 2-3 clients going at once are over-for now at least. So, when I do open the salon, I just ask for patience as I try to schedule all clients with about half the amount of time available to service them.
Personal Need-To-Knows
1. I am currently homeschooling a 7 year old, and might I say, not very successfully. This has become a full time job. A job that, until it's complete, will severely limit the amount of time I am able to be in the salon.
2. Health-wise I am considered to be high-risk if exposed to Covid-19. I also have many clients who are high-risk. Sixty percent of people can carry this virus, give it to someone else, and never have any symptoms. This is scary for me to consider as I am putting together a plan for reopening. The fact that my clients, myself, or my family could be at higher risk of exposure because of me weighs heavily. Please be patient and considerate of the new requirements I will be implementing.
Final thoughts..
Yes, some salons will open the minute Phase 2 begins. I will not be one of those salons, for the reasons listed above. Every salon and stylist is doing what they believe is best for their individual personal/professional situations. Because of a lack of clear guidance in reopening, there is no right or wrong answer that applies to all. We are all navigating these new waters for the first time, and I believe everyone is doing the best they can. So please be kind. Be compassionate and understanding when comparing two salons’ or two stylists’ choices. Have patience with each other (and with me please) as we try to get into a new normal. Stay healthy. I love and appreciate you all!

6/9/20: I will have a reopen date nailed down by early next week & will be contacting clients for appt scheduling!

5/25/20: I finally have a clear picture of what it will take to reopen. Its A LOT! But I'm working hard to gather, create and change everything so I can open. Your salon experience will look and feel different as we move forward, but I'm positive we will get through this together! I am developing a notice for clients explaining the new requirements and will send it out via email, text, or mail over the next couple weeks. Thank you everyone🤗
