Hike for Hope, a su***de awareness event, is taking place on Saturday, September 25th from 9am to noon at the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Inc. in Westminster. Making My Mark, Inc., Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement, and Seneca Junior Women’s Club are sponsoring scholarships for Oconee County Seniors who attend and participate in the event. Seniors who attend Hike for Hope on September 25th, participate in the event by walking and completing a Passport, and submit their passport for entry in the drawing will be eligible to receive one of these scholarship:
- One $1000 scholarship
- Two $500 scholarships
The drawing will take place at the conclusion of the event. Seniors do not have to be present at that time of the drawing to receive a scholarship. Senior recipients will be asked to submit the name of the college at which they will enroll, and scholarship funds will be sent directly to the college. All Seniors in Oconee County are encouraged to participate.

Friday Night Fun on Mainstreet Westminster
This Friday evening, there will be lots to do on Main Street. Starting at 4:00, there will be a cruise in at the Depot parkinglot, then at 5:00 a concert will start at the Retreat Street Park. Retreat Street will be closed and there will be a taco truck there, and hot dog plates will also be available.
The concert will be four bands and will go from 5:00pm until midnight.
The organizers would like to thank Blue Ridge Electric, Dickson's Tractor, Yousef's Kitchen, Reggie Dion and The Upper District, Gavin James and The Market West, and Sue King for their contributions to this event.
