Today we honor Juneteenth, a day that celebrates freedom and the ongoing journey toward equality for all. We believe every person deserves dignity, respect, and compassionate care regardless of their background. This important day reminds us to listen, learn, and continue building a community where everyone feels valued and heard. 🤝

Picnic Fun! We took a trip to the recently opened Olmstead Park in Sedro Woolley. We enjoyed a walk through the park and watching kids catch fish in the nearby pond as John reminisced about his fly-fishing days. A lovely way to spend the afternoon! One of our favorite summer outings is a picnic! We had a great time at Padilla Bay on Friday. From the beautiful view to the amazing company, Birchview seniors had the best time! Egg Roll Day was June 10th! Every two weeks we have a cooking class called Savor the Season where we make and enjoy seasonal goodies. This time, Chef Zack showed us how to make the delicious Filipino treat, lumpia. We love learning something new as well as tasting familiar favorites. Our next class will be strawberry cheesecake parfaits! 😀👩‍🍳🍓

Last week we had a wonderful time at Central Skagit Library. We met Ms. Swenson's 3rd grade class for an hour of creativity, reading, and library fun. We chatted, created modern art butterflies, and read books together. What a great way to finish out the school year with some intergenerational friends!

Sunday we had a blast at the Sedro Woolley Blast from the Past Car Show! It brought back memories of some of our favorite cars. Shirley reminisced about her 57 black Corvette with chrome accents, Delores talked about the many cars she and her husband had over the years, while Kelly told us about driving his 214 6-cylinder 4 speed truck. The skys were gray, but our spirits were bright! 🚘🌥️😁
