Special Olympics Torch Run
Students from Secaucus High School and Secaucus Middle School proudly joined members of the Secaucus Police Department in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, a statewide event that raises awareness and support for athletes participating in Special Olympics New Jersey.
The Torch Run, one of New Jersey's most recognized community events, brings together law enforcement officers, students, educators, and residents to carry the “Flame of Hope” through local communities in support of Special Olympics athletes. The event highlights the values of inclusion, teamwork, and respect while raising funds for year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with disabilities.

This May, students from S.A.I.L. and Rotary Interact Club demonstrated the true spirit of community service by volunteering at the Hoboken Shelter. The students spent their evening helping individuals and families in need through donations and hands-on service.
As part of their outreach efforts, the students donated food and clothing items to support shelter guests. In addition, they worked together to prepare a meal for more than 100 guests and proudly served the meal to those staying at the shelter.
Their compassion, teamwork, and dedication made a meaningful impact on the community and reflected the importance of helping others. Shelter staff expressed gratitude for the students’ generosity and willingness to give their time to support those in need.
The volunteer experience provided students with an opportunity to connect with the community while learning the value of service, kindness, and leadership. Through their efforts, S.A.I.L. and Rotary Interact students helped bring comfort and care to many guests at the Hoboken Shelter.
We would like to remind all students and families that final exams will begin on June 9. We strongly encourage students to begin preparing early, review course materials, and reach out to their teachers with any questions or if additional support is needed.
Final Exam Schedule:
June 9 – Periods 1 and 9
June 10 – Periods 2 and 8
June 11 – Periods 3 and 7
June 12 – Periods 4, 5, and 6
Final exam days are one session school days for students. Please be sure to review the schedule carefully and arrive on time each day, prepared with all necessary materials. Maintaining strong attendance and punctuality during exam week is essential.

We are pleased to share that the Science Club successfully participated in their annual campus clean-up event last week.
To support our students, Kimberly McCleary, Director of Secaucus's Environmental Department, generously supplied the team with safety vests, gloves, and garbage pickers. Equipped with these tools, the students focused their clean-up efforts around the campus football field. During the event, our students paid particular attention to collecting plastic bottle caps. Because of their small size, bottle caps often do not make it into standard recycling streams. Over time, these small plastics weather down into microplastics or are mistaken for food by local birds and wildlife. Ingesting these caps can cause severe digestive blockages and toxicity, making them one of the top five deadliest forms of debris for wildlife.
We are incredibly proud of our Science Club students for taking proactive steps to protect our local ecosystem and maintain a clean campus environment.

Our Cultural Diversity Club, Italian 4 Honors class, and members of the National Foreign Language Honor Society recently traveled to Eataly for an immersive experience in Italian culture. Students enjoyed a guided tour of the marketplace, explored a variety of staple Italian foods and groceries, sampled authentic cuisine, and even had the opportunity to practice their Italian language skills with the owners and tour guides. It was a memorable and educational experience for all involved. A special thank you to Ms. DeGennaro and Ms. Beltran for organizing such an informative and engaging trip!
