This is the most important thing happening in the Cannabis Industry right now!

California Governor delivered a proposal to temporarily reduce the cannabis cultivation taxes to zero. If approved, the reduction begins on July 1, 2022.

We've reached out to DCC and CDTFA asking if the cannabis in the supply chain before July 1st will also have its taxes reduced. This is important since it may cause low supply in the short term.

The proposal also shifts the burden of tax collection from the distributor to the retailer and allocates $20.5 million to help expand access to legal retail throughout California.

All these factors combined make this the perfect moment to crack new jurisdictions.

We will reach out here to let you know the response from DCC and CDFTA.

Q: How can a small operator with little funds and big ideas break into the cannabis industry?

A: Apply for an S-License!

It’s no secret that breaking into the cannabis industry can be a cyclopean feat. Most cannabis licenses are tied to a location, necessitating proper zoning, good landlord relations, and often several years of rent during the long licensing process. While this journey is certainly surmountable and holds some of the greatest rewards, it is not accessible or palatable for everyone.

For those dreamers of brownies, tinctures, infused joints, and other cannabis products the DCC has bestowed upon us a great boon: the magical S-License (S for Shared). The S-License is a manufacturing type license that allows you to rent time in other licensed cannabis manufacturing facilities, or simply hire them to produce your recipes. You can go to market without ever having to so much as don a hairnet or sully a rubber glove yourself!

The best part about the S-License is that it is not tied to a facility, so no need to set out on the rough waters of cannabis real estate or facility buildout. With fair winds behind your S-License application sails, you could be operating in as little as six months after submitting your application.

Now, is the road to S-Licensure without hazard or surprise? Of course not, and that’s why it’s handy to have an expert from 421 Group in your corner, coaching you and guiding you all along the way. Get in touch now to schedule a FREE initial consultation, and let’s chart a course for your dreams to become a quick reality!
