More bloom doodling

These flowers blooming in my garden right now came inside with me and I thought I should check on their names. I mean bluebells and daisies of course, neither of which I myself planted. There's the botanical names - campanula persicifolia or campanula rotundifolia and leucanthemum maximum, and max chrysanthemum. But then there are those that hint at location, like meadowbell, harebell, Shasta daisy, Daisy of Alaska, Willow bellflower, Peach-bells....

Tenino Time Machine

Tenino is a likable small town not far from Olympia, known for its stone quarry and train depot - a town that loves its history even as it moves into the current age. The Tenino Bank still looks like a bank, but now houses the Chiropractic and Wellness Center. Return of the Enso

Inks on watercolor paper: Daler Rowney and Higgins Eternal Black Some water and ink play. Pick a shape, like the eternal enso, symbol of the Zen mind. Load up a big brush with water and apply with a flourish. Make sure it's plenty wet so the ink will move. Use the dropper or a pipette - a little goes a long way - to charge the ink colors into the wet surface....

Backyard sketching and more birds

Warm day + back yard patio + hummingbird feeder + Japanese Maple. I put my feet up to elevate the knee, and started a sketch. It's officially my "recovery" spot, and a lovely one at that. My Annas hummingbird friend was nowhere in sight, giving me time to sketch the scene. Meanwhile my friend Lisa Genuit was out birding at our nearby , Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, photographing some less frequent visitors that I have yet to see "in person".
