Danaca Design
Danaca Design is a jewelry and small-scale metal working teaching studio and gallery located in Seattle.
We ran a mini competition in the gallery, no bets were involved but that was the idea. Anyhow, we have a winner in the, “Who Will Win?” Alex G will receive a 2026 Battle of the Rings show catalog on us!
As a side note “Sasamba” by our new Champion did receive the most bets among those who participated with, “Inner Compass” by following closely behind so I guess our customers know how to pick them!
Not far behind was, “Sweet Commotion” by and “PHI” by .rox so they should fell pretty darn good being among the gain the gallery!
Champion! Congratulations!!
Kris Carlos | Sasamba
Materials: Sterling Silver, brass, copper
Artist Statement: “Sasamba” is the Filipino word for Praying Mantis. This was part of a micro series of insect related pieces that was inspired by a beetle flying in my room. I wanted to create something very whimsical, a take on cabinet of curiosities, fairies, and a play on puppetry.
Artist Bio: Kris Carlos (b. 1985, Manila) started her smithing journey in 2018 when she took a basic silversmithing class at The Studio 925 in Manila where she was later asked to be an apprentice for the studio, and eventually became an instructor. Kris is known for combining her sculptures with jewelry and like to experiment with painting and coloring metal. In 2023, to further her smithing skills, she took a short course in chasing and repousse in Aoyama School of Jewellery in Tokyo, Japan.

Winner Second Place!
Hsinyu Candy Chu | Inner Compass Locket Ring
Materials: 14kt yellow gold, sterling silver, transparent sapphire disc, turquoise cabochon, princess-cut & marquise diamond melees and bluish green basse-taille enamel.
Artist Statement: This sterling silver ring features a locket whose upper chamber holds a 14 karat yellow gold compass rose, enclosing a pivoting transparent sapphire. Princess-cut diamond melees mark the cardinal points. Beneath, basse-taille bluish-green enamel evokes the vast ocean—an uncertainty navigated by faith. When closed, a natural marquise-shaped diamond forms a radiant Third Eye, symbolizing inner vision and awakened awareness. Fleur-de-lis carvings along the shank recall historic compass markers, guiding with clarity and a sense of divine orientation.
Artist Bio: My inspiration comes from wandering through gardens, exploring museums, and admiring architecture. Every journey shapes my perspective and fuels my creativity, as I continuously explore and create. From an early age, I was influenced by my father, a Feng Shui consultant, and became fascinated by the balance of Yin and Yang. My work reflects this ongoing search for harmony—capturing fleeting beauty, transforming it, and shaping it into wearable art that embodies both contrast and equilibrium.

Lena Echelle | Tephrocactus joya
Materials: Goatskin, silk, sterling silver, yerba mate dye, acrylic paint, soap, acrylic resin
Artist Statement: Tephrocactus, or paper spine cactus, is a native genus of cactus in the deserts of Northwestern Argentina. In Argentina, “joya” does not only mean jewel but also great, beautiful, awesome, precious in general — without any necessary reference to monetary value. This fantasy genus and species of ring suggests that wild plants and places might be considered the greatest “joya” of all.
Artist Bio: Originally a jeweler/metalsmith from the US, I moved to the mountains of La Rioja, Argentina, from Dallas, Texas, in 2009. The Northwestern region of Argentina is extensively mined for precious metals, but I was surprised to discover it was impossible to acquire them without travelling across the country to Buenos Aires. Eventually, I fell in love with the beauty of the hardy native plants and wide-open landscapes and began to work primarily with locally sourced, upcycled materials.

Sara Elgohary | The Spot of Tea Ring, Part 1 of the Impractical Teapot Series
Copper, Sterling Silver, Brass
Artist Statement: The Impractical Teapot Series came into being during a road trip discussion with friends, where absurd ideas naturally thrive. Initially, most of these ideas were meant for ceramics, but the reminder of the Battle of the Rings sparked the idea for a metal version. This piece, my first metal teapot, was crafted with tools improvised to adjust to the smaller scale and giddy feeling you get when working through a new process while only sort of knowing what you’re doing but doing it anyway.
Artist Bio: I am a mixed media sculptor and jeweler with an interest in creating work that explores our interactions as people with objects around us, specifically with the personal value placed on inherently non-valuable objects. I explore these connections by creating ornate containers and vessels for said objects. I received a BFA in Spatial Art from SJSU, where I studied woodworking, ceramics, and non-ferrous metalsmithing among other media which I use to create ornate housing for mundane objects.

Size: 9.25 (Can’t be resized)
One of a Kind
Artist Statement: Some moments are summer days, some are winter nights, but all are necessary to make up a year and a life. This ring can be set to a specific season (represented by 108 rotating pave set colored stones in the band) and to day or night (represented by a reversible sunstone and a moonstone). Maybe you want to set it in accordance with the world around you as a reminder to stay grounded in the rhythms of the earth. Maybe you want to set it to a season you’d like to embody- your own invincible summer.
Artist Bio: Yarrow Mead is a goldsmith currently working out of Northern California. She has previously worked in the Northern Great Lakes region and the Southwest region of the United States. Her art has been shaped by a longing to capture the beauty and wildness of these landscapes on the edge. Asymmetry and strong textures serve to create art that is organic, striking, and wearable.
