It’s World Environment Day.

In our 20-year history, we’ve protected over 1.3 million acres of our land, protected over 11 billion pollinators, and worked with organizations around the world to restore ecosystems and combat climate change. That’s 20 years of tree growth, native plant restoration, and habitat protection for endangered species.

Our team is currently on the ground in the Puget Sound, where less than 3% of prairie land remains. Of that, only 1% is considered to be in good ecological condition.

Once spanning over 150,000 acres of grasslands, wildflowers, and oak woodland, this ecosystem is essential to wildlife and native pollinators, including the highly endangered Taylor’s Checkerspot butterfly. Prairie grasses can also store vast amounts of carbon in their underground root systems, making them a vital landscape for combating climate change.

We’re restoring these prairies through planting native plant species and removing invasives. With each ecosystem we restore, we prevent further ecological degradation, save essential pollinators, and protect our environment for future generations!

How are you celebrating World Environment Day?

The numbers are in for Big Fix 5.0. 692 cats, 440 dogs, 1,132 animals helped in Omak, Washington. Across 5 clinics over 2 years, that's 5,473 free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchips provided to pets who needed them most. Thank you to Team Okanogan Animal Rescue for partnering with us to make it happen.

When Eli arrived, the odds weren't in his favor. A stray senior lab — severe heartworm diagnosis, owner couldn't keep him, and a long road ahead.

Through the Save a Heart program, a partnership between Greater Good Charities and Boehringer Ingelheim, Eli was matched with a rescue that specializes in senior dogs and those who are hardest to place. He found a foster who fell in love with him immediately.

Is your pet protected? Heartworm is one of the most preventable threats to your dog's health — talk to your vet. 🐾

Meet Billie. Born into the pet trade and rescued from private ownership, Wolf Haven International is finally her real home.

The exotic pet trade has contributed to over-exploitation of endangered wolves. Billie’s arrival at Wolf Haven International marked a new beginning where she could begin to heal, make new friends, and live out her senior years in peace. But Billie’s story doesn't end there.

She recently lost her longtime companion and being alone has been very difficult for her. Her enclosure is scheduled for a Greater Good Charities’ renovation that will help her welcome a new enclosure-mate. When the construction project is complete, a male wolf from Minnesota will move in, marking an end to Billie’s lonely days!

Every wolf in sanctuary care has a story. What does it mean to you that there are people whose job it is to make sure those stories have a good ending?

"These animals got to be themselves."

That's what our wildlife habitat construction team works toward every build. From small songbirds in rehabilitation to bears and tigers rescued from exploitation, every enclosure is designed around what each species actually needs — to recover, to stay wild, and, when the time comes, to go home.

Watch to see the work behind the impact.

Dark. Worn down. Decades of use.

Then: Greater Good Charities showed up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi — and got to work.

Watch the full transformation of Southern Pines Animal Shelter's kennel building. In the three months after we finished, dog adoptions jumped 20%.

We are SO excited to partner with TOYOTA on the "Empowered by Toyota Tour!" A multi-city pop-up experience where communities can test drive hybrids and EVs, receive complimentary gifts, and have Toyota make a charitable contribution on their behalf.

Because when you bring together a brand committed to cleaner transportation and an organization amplifying the good for people, animals, and the environment, good things happen.

Every stop on the tour is a chance to learn, connect, and give back. We are thrilled to partner with Toyota and their consumers in making meaningful change.
