How do Catholics serve people experiencing poverty well?
In this short clip from the WSCC’s recent Life. Justice. Peace. webinar, Mirya Muñoz-Roach, Executive Director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle/King County, reflects on what it means to move beyond helping from a distance and toward building real relationships, dignity, and belonging.
Her response invites us to approach service with humility — not simply asking how we can help, but how we can be of service, listen deeply, and recognize the gifts and leadership of those we accompany.

As the public policy voice of the bishops of Washington state, the WSCC works to bring Life, Justice, and Peace into public life.
Faith is not meant to remain hidden.
For 50 years, the Washington State Catholic Conference has helped Catholics in Washington bring the Gospel into public life — not as a matter of politics, but as a witness to human dignity, mercy, justice, and the common good.
In this 50th Anniversary reflection, Bishop Thomas Daly of the Diocese of Spokane reminds us that faithful advocacy begins with our call to serve Christ in those most in need: the unborn, the poor, the immigrant, the marginalized, and all who need mercy and care.
The WSCC’s mission continues because the work of protecting life, serving the vulnerable, and building a more just Washington is not finished.
May we continue this work with courage, compassion, and a shared commitment to the Gospel.

We are grateful for Jean’s witness, leadership, and commitment to advancing the dignity of every person.

Catholic Advocates Needed! 🕊️
The latest WSCC Catholic Advocacy Bulletin highlights a call for Catholic advocates as the WSCC prepares for the 2027 legislative session.
As thousands of proposals are introduced each session, Catholics are called to participate in public life, stay informed, and help raise a faithful voice for the common good. This week’s bulletin invites Catholics in Washington to consider taking a deeper role in advocacy by testifying, meeting with legislators, and responding to action requests in support of WSCC priorities.
The WSCC is seeking advocates willing to help uphold the dignity and sanctity of life, prioritize the needs of people in poverty, and bring Catholic teaching into the public square with a consistent message.
Available in both English and Spanish.
Read the new Catholic Advocacy Bulletin and complete the Catholic Advocate survey to learn how you can take part in faithful advocacy in Washington state.

Join Catholics across the United States in praying the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus from June 3–11.
This novena draws its daily devotions from the Litany of the Sacred Heart and invites us into prayer, reflection, and deeper devotion to the Heart of Jesus — the source of love, mercy, justice, consolation, and holiness.
Each day offers an opportunity to reflect on the Sacred Heart and respond with prayer and action. The novena concludes with the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
May this time of prayer draw us closer to Christ and strengthen our witness to His love in our homes, communities, and public life.

Care for Creation is not optional — it is part of our Catholic faith. 🌎
In this clip from our most recent Life. Justice. Peace. webinar, Dan Misleh, Founder and Executive Director of Catholic Climate Covenant, responds to the question:
“How do we explain Care for Creation to Catholics who may see it as optional or political?”
His answer reminds us that caring for creation is rooted in Scripture, Catholic Social Teaching, and our responsibility to protect both people and the planet.

For 50 years, the Washington State Catholic Conference has helped bring the voice of our Catholic faith into public life.
In this 50th Anniversary reflection, Bishop Eusebio Elizondo reminds us that the WSCC was founded with a bold vision: to defend human dignity, uphold the common good, and ensure that the Gospel continues to shape how we advocate for life, justice, and peace in Washington state.
Over five decades, the WSCC has served as a bridge between Church and state, parishes and policy, faith and action. This work is not only for bishops or staff — it belongs to all of us.
Each of us has a role to play in witnessing to the Gospel in public life: the laity, religious, young people, elders, parishes, schools, and Catholic communities across Washington.
As Bishop Elizondo shares, may we continue this mission with faith, with hope, and above all, with love.
As the WSCC continues celebrating 50 years of Catholic Advocacy in Washington state in 2026, we give thanks for every person who has helped bring Life, Justice, and Peace into public life.
Be a Catholic voice. Your actions can make a difference.
