It took us about 5 or 6 attempts with the playing card toss to capture some winners. Rachel was totally game for each reset. I realized quickly that even the shots of her picking up the cards from the floor were pretty cool. This is the second of three outfits, and it just gives me this classy, jazzy feel that matches the cards. And even though the soundtrack for the day on set was rave music, you can almost hear the jazz in these shots.

I always like working with Rachel. She brings an elegance and creativity to every shoot. We met at the studio to get these shots with one theme in mind: playing cards. Rachel understood the assignment and brought three amazing fits. This is the first. I edited it to feel a bit vintage, with more of a blue undertone than I usually use for my shots. As a bonus, swipe to the end to see the set we shot in.

I'm officially back in my creative season, so DM me for a photoshoot 😎

I am so excited to be part of the Wonderland exhibition along with fourteen local and international artists over at ! Opening Night is this Thursday at 6:30pm. Come through and see the incredible work on display 🙌🏿

Here's the official deets below:

Inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the exhibition emphasizes imagination and interpretation over literal representation. From gentle ink-brush to large-scale ceramic, experimentation and object transformation can be found across media and style. Spotlight artists include Seattleite Steffanie Lorig, who uncovers and refines figures and faces within abstraction, and Korean brush-and-ink specialist YooSho Nam (유소남), whose latest series, Wonderland, is featured in the exhibition. An additional twelve artists contribute their own imaginative interpretations of the theme.

The exhibition also celebrates cross-disciplinary collaboration: Gallery B612’s sister company, O-Jak Bridge Art and Dance Festival, will present a modern dance interpretation of Wonderland on November 8 & 9 at Broadway Performance Hall. YooSho Nam (유소남) will create live painting on stage during the performance. Additionally, on November 11, the gallery will host a music-and-dance event showcasing compositions directly inspired by the exhibition’s artwork.

I feel like I just blinked and it had suddenly been MONTHS since I did a photoshoot. This was a fun set with the lovely Grace that's starting to play with new themes I want to explore, like reflections and points of view. Definitely more to come.

How have y'all been?

Also, be sure to drop by Arte Noir, ACES, and soon, Gallery B612 to see my work on display!!! Really excited about all three opportunities 😊

This has a been year of trying new things. And it's made life more interesting for sure. I'm going to try to sneak in one more solo trip this year, so definitely let me know any suggestions in the comments🙏🏿

I also wanna practice videography more, so my video creative friends out there, prepare for all the questions lol

I've been lazy posting on IG. That's the post 😂

I realized that posting on Instagram since undergrad has trained me to make all of my shots portrait. But sometimes I snap landscapes that are pretty cool too. I want to practice that aspect ratio more. Check these out from my Hawaii trip. Everyone looks like a superhero in silhouette here.

Working on some new art for the fall, and I'll update y'all on any new exhibitions coming up soon too.

I'm still stunned how beautiful a single place can be. Watching the sunset here brought me a sense of calm I haven't felt in a long time. I've gotta do more solo trips. There's so much world to see. And food to eat, especially.

Any recommendations?

Also, if you know me, you know I'm super bougie about only posting shots from my Canon here. But these two are just from my Pixel. So shout-out to my tour guide for the photo wisdom 🤙🏿

It's always hard to pick a favorite photo from a set I'm really excited about. But these two shots I keep coming back to. Jeremy brought a beautiful bouquet along to the photoshoot, and had an idea for a pose in mind. We gave it a shot and got these.

I'm EXTREMELY extra when I do photoshoots, and I'm pretty sure I ran around the set excitedly for a few minutes, like a professional 😂

Which of these connects with you more?

I've been working on some new pieces the last few months celebrating Black hair in portraits and photocollages. I wanted so badly to work with Jeremy again, an amazing artist in the area. I was thrilled when he was down for a photoshoot. The photos we got are some of the best I've ever taken.

Stay tuned for more 😎
