Today marks 20 years since Ryan and I quietly opened the doors to Market Street Shoes. 20 years feels like a big deal and we have been doing a lot of reflecting on both our struggles, and our triumphs over the years. We are so proud to have built this business from the ground up, and keenly aware that it’s never been on our own. We have always felt so lucky to have the most kind, creative, and hardworking folks on our team holding down the front and back of house to help our customers have the best experience. To all the lovely people who have ever worked with us, we are grateful to you! Hurray for 20 years and cheers to 20 more!! We are looking forward to a big 20th celebration in June. We just learned that our store won the 2025 Gold Service Medal Award from Footwear Insight Magazine thanks to these stelllar folks! The award recognizes excellence in service for independent shoe stores around the country. This is quite the honor in our industry and helps reinforce our commitment to serving our community. Please know how much it means to us when you make the time to come shop in our store, especially in this world with so many other options. We wouldn’t be here without you!

Today marks the start of Ballard Gives Back - a small business response to the Black Friday money grab by big national chains and instead focuses the attention caring for our local community. Market Street Shoes will be donating 10% of sales today through Cyber Monday to Labateyah Youth Home - a native focused rapid rehousing program in North Seattle. As has become tradition, our friend and resident December artist has donated a beautiful new work to be silently auctioned with all proceeds going to support Labateyah as well.
