March 2025 was one of the darkest times in my life. It felt like everyone was ready to give up on me, and I had just about given up on myself. I found myself in inpatient, in chapels and anywhere about home, looking to pass the time and sit with my utter abandon from anything true or beautiful or good. In a weird daze, one day, I got obsessed with the idea of buying a tree and ended up scouring the Internet for hours while at work, looking for trees.
I eventually found myself in Issaquah buying a “Washington Strawberry”- A lost variety of apple tree. It was very young and the guy gave me tons of tips and directions for how to keep it alive.
That night I sat in the backyard with a bottle of w**e and a guitar. I imagined myself standing in front of a mirror and thought about what I would say to myself. That’s where I got the lyrics to leaves.
Since that time in my life, this silly little tree has been a beautiful source of hope and direction for me. I feel like this song captures the passion and rage that can go into self hate, and the intrinsic longing desire to care about something beyond yourself.

Through this song and as a collective goal, I hope that our discography can be a source of comfort and hope for anyone dealing with things like this. May our vulnerability feed into your strength.
