Somali Bantu Rising

Somali Bantu Rising’s Food Distribution Event brought our community together to make sure families had access to essential groceries. Rice, oil, and household staples to help ease the load.

From our dedicated volunteers checking folks in, to elders and families leaving with bags full of essentials, this event was a beautiful reminder of what we can do when we show up for each other.

Saturday: Somali Bantu Rising attended the King County Youth Leadership Summit and had the privilege of meeting with King County Executive Girmay Zahilay Building relationships with county leadership is essential to ensuring our community’s voices are heard — and we showed up.

Sunday: Our youth were invited by the City of Seattle to participate in FIFA World Cup 2026 preparations here in Seattle, where we met Mayor Katie B. Wilson and were featured in a video representing our city ahead of one of the biggest events in the world.

Two days. Two major meetings. One clear message — the Somali Bantu community belongs in every room where Seattle’s future is being shaped.
