Do you know this seal? 🦭
North of 81°N, we came across one of the Arctic's most adorable survivors. This Hooded Seal pup is only about two months old and roughly the size of a beach ball.
After spending just four days nursing with its mother — the shortest mother-pup bond of any mammal — this young seal was left to face the Arctic alone.
Surrounded by drifting pack ice and a landscape that can seem impossibly harsh, it is already learning what it takes to survive in one of the most extreme environments on the planet.

Sometimes, seabirds accidentally land on the outer decks of our ships. When that happens, our onboard ornithologists step in to help.
Watch as they carefully check on this unexpected visitor before safely releasing it back into the wild 🕊️
Our vessels are designed to minimize these encounters by using exterior green deck lighting and reduced interior brightness, or by covering windows in sensitive bird areas.

Highlights from Ultramarine’s first voyage of the season! ❄️🐻❄️✅
Our May 13 voyage kicked off the season with big wildlife days and even bigger expedition energy aboard Ultramarine. Guests spent their days making the most of every moment, from Zodiac cruises and shore walks to quiet kayaking sessions.
Across the voyage, moments that stood out most included cruising through the pack ice north of Svalbard, taking in unreal early-season polar scenery, and the kind of wildlife encounters everyone hopes for in the Arctic.
