Archer, a dog living in Alaska, was severely burned when his home caught fire. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found Archer consumed by flames. The scared dog ran off when firefighters tried to pick him up – leaving many people worried about his survival.

Thankfully, Archer was located near the ocean not long after the fire and was immediately taken to the vet. Since Archer lives in Haines, Alaska, things are pretty remote and emergency vet services aren’t that abundant.

The main vet nearby was out of town and Archer had to endure a seven-hour car ride, through severe weather, to the nearest vet in order to treat his serious injuries.

It soon became clear that Archer would need more help than expected, so they brought in a burn specialist from The University of California, Davis for advice. The specialist recommended a newer treatment that seemed a bit fishy...

When rescuers discovered an Italian mastiff all by himself on a Massachusetts beach, they guessed the dog had been abandoned. “I do think he was dumped. I don’t think he could walk there on his own,” an animal control officer, Cindy Berard, told WJAR. “When I went down there, he was actually standing on the rocks in the water, which was weird and he looked stuck like he was kind of lost.”

A thin, terrified 2-year-old blue heeler was found wandering the streets of Phoenix, Arizona, one extremely hot summer day in 2014. She ended up in a local animal shelter, where she was soon put on the euthanasia list due to her “unfriendly” personality. No one came to claim her.

Then some nice people with a local dog fostering nonprofit decided to take her out of the shelter and saved her from the euthanasia list.

I had a 6-year-old border collie at the time who was home alone regularly, which tore me up with dog-mom guilt. I decided he needed a pal, so I started searching online. I came across this blue heeler and was immediately struck by how sweet she looked.

I brought her home and quickly discovered something deeply troubling about her...

As I was driving to work one morning on a very busy road, I noticed an animal on the shoulder of the road that had been hit. However, as I passed it, it popped it's little head up.

I immediately stopped, turned around, and drove back to this little creature. I grabbed a blanket from my trunk and cradled the pup and put him in the car next to me.

By now, I was petting my new friend Buddy and telling him all would be okay. I pulled over and called every vet I could Google but I was told they were not allowed to treat wild animals...

Imagine rescuing what you thought was a cute little kitten, only for it to turn out to be a wild animal? That is exactly what happened to one woman in Argentina after she took her “kitten” to the veterinarian.

Florencia Lobo explained to Reuters that the mix up occurred when she was in the northwest Argentinian province of Tucumán with her brother. The pair had made the sad discovery of two kittens beside a deceased adult cat.

“We thought that it was an abandoned cat who had given birth,” she told Reuters.

Florencia also noted that the female kitten didn’t survive, but the male kitten – who she named Tito – did.

While everything appeared to be going well with Tito’s health, she was in for quite the shock two months later when she took him to a vet appointment. That is where she learned that Tito wasn’t at all a regular house cat like she’d originally thought.
“The vet didn’t know what it was but said it was not a normal cat,” She said.

Florencia added that the vet’s office gave her the number of a local nature reserve.
Following her getting in touch with the Horco Molle Nature Reserve, it was confirmed that Tito was in fact, a jaguarundi. Jaguarundis are actually a small type of wild cat who are native to both North and South America.

Their full scientific name is Puma Yagouaroundi. And while their name sounds large and impressive, they’re actually just slightly larger than your average housecat. As reported by the Texas Parks & Wildlife’s website, jaguarundis will normally weight between 8-16 pounds.

But there is a happy ending for Tito. As Reuters informs us, Tito is doing well under the care of the nature reserve, and there are plans to someday release him back into his natural habitat.

We drove to out local shelter to only look.

I didn't want puppy, I wanted someone who was slightly older. There wasn't many to choose from maybe 8. As i made my way back to look over again, they just brought in the saddest most scared little black and white dog i have seen.

He looked at me and i lost all my breath.

Just standing in the back of cage next to the wall. I stood guard while my husband went to get someone who worked there so we could meet this little one. When he came into the room he just stood there trembling, all 20 pounds of him. He gave a little lick to each of us but mostly was terrified. They couldn't find his background history but he came from a kill shelter.

I knew I had to help him...

Dear Jessie,

When I first adopted you, I whispered to you, "You gotta live forever, 'kay?" Over the years when I would imagine life without you, I would say again to you, "You gotta live forever, 'kay?"

My body still wants to take you for a walk. Your leash still hangs by the door waiting for the words, "Wanna go outside?" It's been raining a lot this week, and I instinctively look at the clock to see if it's near time to take you out. Whenever I eat some crackers or chips, I look to see where you are so I can throw you some...
