We’re recruiting volunteer mentors and writing/math instructors for Minds Matter Seattle’s 2026–2027 school year.

Mentors walk alongside a brilliant high school student on their path to college, and instructors lead small-group writing or math sessions that build skills and confidence. We’re looking for people who show up, listen well, and genuinely want to make a difference in students’ lives.

Minds Matter Seattle is excited to announce the addition of a new team member!

After four years of operating with a single staff member and an extraordinary network of dedicated volunteer instructors, the organization is proud to continue growing its capacity.

We are pleased to welcome Hayley Werner as the newest staff member.

Hayley brings extensive experience in education and arts administration, having worked with students across a wide age range. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Psychology from Chapman University and completed a residency with Milwaukee Repertory Theater, contributing to curriculum development, classroom instruction, and research. In Seattle, she previously served as Education Programs Manager at Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE, where she led programs serving more than 500 students each year.

Her work emphasizes inclusivity, social emotional development, and strong community engagement. In her role, Hayley will support summer programming and Saturday Sessions as Minds Matter Seattle continues to strengthen its offerings for students across the region.

Please join us in welcoming Hayley to the Minds Matter Seattle community.

On April 30th, we’re taking the mission underwater.

Minds Matter Seattle is hosting our 12th Annual Gala, The Next Wave, at the Seattle Aquarium. Dinner under soaring timber beams with a floor-to-ceiling marine tank as your backdrop, plus tide pools open for exploring. It is that kind of night.

This isn’t your average banquet hall fundraiser. It’s a night where the setting matches the mission: something alive, something deep, something worth showing up for.

Every ticket, every table, every donation goes directly toward connecting ambitious, driven students from low-income backgrounds with the mentorship, programming, and college access support that changes trajectories.

The next wave is rising. Come be part of it. Link in bio.

On March 28th, our Class of 2026 pulled off something really special.

For their Senior Capstone Project, our students planned and hosted a multicultural fair that brought the whole Minds Matter Seattle community together. Guest speakers, performers, henna art, cultural dances, coffee-making traditions, delicious food, and so much more. It was a full day of learning, connection, and celebration.

Watching our seniors step into their leadership and share the cultures and experiences that shape them was truly something else. We are so proud of everything they have built and so excited for what comes next.

Thank you to the families, volunteers, and supporters who make this community what it is.💙
