General registration opens on December 4, but we are now accepting applications for financial aid. There will be one 100% or two 50% scholarships availabe for every class. You can find out more and apply here. Applications due by December 1!

Our After School Activities program is off to a great start!
If you have a kid taking an ASA class - or even if you don't - please consider volunteering for the daily transition cover between the end of school and the start of ASA activities.

If you can volunteer for 1 or 2 days during the fall term it would be so helpful. There are over 150 kids attending the program and we can only offer it with the help of the parents! There are still over 30 afternoons between now and Christmas that need a volunteer present for 30 to 45 minutes (very rarely, a little longer).

ASA is back! After school activities will return to JSIS on Monday October 3, 2022, after a two-year break. The initial program will be smaller than was offered before COVID, but we're striving to keep the same mix of sport, art, science, crafts, languages, and fun. General registration for classes will begin this Sunday September 11 at 6pm - and this year everything will be managed through the 6crickets platform. ASA Team update! We hope you have had a great school year! As we end 2020-21 and head into the 2021-2022 school year, the ASA team is working to restart in person activities and classes as soon as possible. At this time, due to current SPS COVID guidelines, we will NOT be planning to offer classes for Fall 2021 -- as a result, we do not expect ASA to resume any earlier than for the Winter 2022 session (which usually begins in January). ASA courses depend on sharing classroom space. We aim to restart offerings as soon as SPS COVID guidance allows. As we learn more, we will post updates here.

As everyone is aware, Seattle Public Schools has officially announced an online/remote learning plan for Fall 2020. With this in mind, ASA will NOT be offering sessions for Fall 2020. We are working closely with Principal Jones to determine when we can safely offer in-person ASA classes again. Alternatively, the ASA team is also looking into curating a set of online courses for the Winter/Spring sessions. We will update you as soon as plans solidify and change; however, please assume ASA will not be running in person until further notice.

For this Fall, if you are looking for ASA style classes to supplement your child’s learning, we encourage you to check out past ASA vendors who are all providing excellent online opportunities. Thank you and stay safe everyone!

Online Classes | JSIS After School Activities While school is closed, many of the vendors that have taught classes at JSIS will be offering online classes.  The following is a list of classes we are aware of from these vendors. Registration and questions around classes should be directed at each respective vendor.  

All JSIS ASA Families,

Due to the current circumstances and after a lengthy discussion, the ASA Team has come up with the following plan for the spring session of ASA:

• All spring classes will be cancelled immediately. Please expect to see vendors processing refunds to classes you are enrolled in within the next couple of days. Please reach out to our team ([email protected]) if you have not received a refund for your class by this weekend.

• We will monitor news, dates and information from our vendors to decide whether or not we can hold a shorter, spring session. If this ends up being a viable option, we will likely hold a short, quick registration to turn this around -- we will message as broadly as we can. There would be new dates and adjusted rates if so.

• Depending on what happens with the timeline for if and when school resumes, we may decide to NOT hold a spring session all together. We will communicate this as well

• Meanwhile, many of our vendors are offering online classes during this time and we know our community loves the classes they offer! We won't be managing registration of these classes; however, we will be compiling a list of these classes and will provide information on how to register for them through our website. When we have this ready, we will post this on our website and communicate through here so this community has that information.

Registration for our spring session is up and running! There are a few classes that would love to have more students that are super fun!

Lego Robotics & Engineering, Japanese Afternoon Fun, Peace Seekers, Soroban (learn math with an abacus!) and World Singing and Dancing
