Today I discovered that red miso totally belongs in cookies and that maybe it is time I replace my slightly warped 25 year old baking sheets if I am going to get through the next 105 recipes :)

Friday night lineup: jalapeño margarita, Mariners highlights, and 108 Asian Cookies , a gorgeous new cookbook from a Seattle author sharing her culture and love of baking. Not-too-sweet treats, full of heart. So grateful for this city and its stories. 🌆💛

Update: returned to owner! Found DOG in Magnolia near our Lady of Fatima. He is chipped, but he is not registered. He looks like he was chipped in a facility in Oklahoma. He’s a very friendly dog but very, very, very energetic.

Due to the California fires, the shelters are at capacity. Several local rescue groups are trying to find immediate fosters in the Seattle area. This is posted by a local resident :
Dear fellow residents of Magnolia: some of you I’m sure our by now aware that Los Angeles is burning. What you may not be aware is they have an extreme problem with high kill shelters, killing beautiful, perfectly fine wonderful dogs. Because of all the evacuations, the shelters are now completely overloaded and I have been told our going to just start mass killing dogs. I’ve been in contact with someone who I’ve known since last year that works from Ballard to help coordinate getting the dogs out in general of the shelters and he is asking if I know of any people who might be available for fosters to avoid the dogs being killed. The transport for the dogs is paid for so you’re not going to be asked for money out of pocket. I’m going to post just a few of the photos of dogs that are in urgent need. The two shelters that are at highest risk for mass killing dogs are Downey and Carson in LA County. In case you’re wondering they do really kill the dogs and it’s heartbreaking. There are lots of rescue organizations that try to get these dogs out, but they do not have enough fosters and with the current emergency situation in Los Angeles they are actively asking for help. I will put the contact information for Mason who is the coordinator in any DM that is sent to me. I am not in direct contact with the shelters and the shelters will not adopt a dog out unless you got there in person so this dogs have to be taken out of the shelter by some rescue. This is heartbreaking, but if you have the capacity to even foster a dog for a few months, please please consider offering that opportunity to save lives of these poor animals that have done nothing wrong wrong. If they were in a local shelter, they would’ve been adopted immediately.

This set of photos is just screenshots that I took from the Carson shelter and represents less than 1% of the dogs that are about to be killed.

Finally, if any of you are vet tech or have contact with the 15th St. shelter or any of the local shelters or rescue organizations that we could possibly get together a larger rescue effort to bring these dogs up here and adopt them out. Please let me know. link to the coordinator for dogs is in this profile Mason’s profile link. He has a regular job so he is volunteering his time to help so please be respectful. Also, I don’t know how to copy his direct contact information so please forgive me. This is just the Facebook link.
