June is shaping up to be one of our most creative months yet at Potterings.
Our June newsletter is out now and filled with studio updates, beginner pottery tips, community stories, and this month’s open studio project: handmade ceramic wall hangings. Perfect for beginning potters, kids 8+, and anyone looking for a relaxing couple of hours with clay.
We’re also getting ready for the worldwide Game of Shrooms on June 13, where handmade ceramic mushrooms will be hidden throughout the community for people to find and keep.
Thank you for continuing to make Potterings such a warm, creative little community here in West Seattle. We cannot wait to create with you this month.

It’s the Potterings one year anniversary!
05/29/2026
One year ago, Potterings opened our studio doors with a simple idea. Pottery should feel welcoming, affordable, and beginner friendly.
Since then, hundreds of first-time potters have sat at our tables, rolled slabs of clay, spent time with family and friends, and made something they never thought they could create.
This Sunday, May 31, we’re celebrating one full year of clay community and you’re invited.
West Seattle Blog also shared that Game of Shrooms is returning on June 13, so yes… handmade (by the Potterings co-op members) pottery mushrooms will once again be hidden around West Seattle for lucky finders.
Thank you for supporting this little pottery studio and helping it grow into something so special. Truly. We can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Pinholes in your glaze can feel like a setback, especially after a successful firing. The good news is that most surface pinholes are fixable. With a simple process of light sanding, careful cleaning, and a thin reglaze, many pieces can be restored to a smooth finish. In this beginner-friendly guide, you will learn exactly how to fix pinholes, why they happen, and a few intermediate techniques that can improve your results on the next firing.
