Back with some book recommendations for 2026

“The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching” by Thich Nhat Hanh. While the first half is a bit dense with outlines of Buddhism, the second half is filled with Hanh’s compassionate writing style that has made his books incredibly engaging and memorable. There are some thought provoking analogies throughout that kept me thinking about the book often. While I would recommend some of his other titles for more casual readers, I think this one is a great title for those looking to dive deep into spiritual contemplation.

“Letters from a stoic” by Seneca. The philosopher and statesman lived a very interesting life, from early health issues he rose to fame serving 3 different emperors, eventually scandal would lead him into exile and eventually his death. I think this book requires historical context, but the introduction did a great job of outlining his life and tribulations. Seneca wasn’t perfect and history seems undecided on his innocence, but the letters (much like meditations) were an inspiring look at a man facing the insurmountable challenges of life.

Alittle late on this one, but 2025 was simultaneously the absolute best and worst year of my 38 years on this rock. However, I step into 2026 grateful for it all.

- Worked on a ton of music for a lot of incredible artists
- Mixes some great shows at
- Toured across North America and Canada with 2 of my favorite artists.
- Had the best birthday ever in Florida and caught a tiny fish in the ocean. However, the sunburn was not worth it.
- filmed, performed and acted in 10+ music videos. Thanks
- Landed my first guitar endorsement.
- Picked up reading again after too many years off.
- Connected and made memories with some great friends.
- Finally cut my hair off. Good riddance.
- Started therapy to fix my bu****it.
- Got sober.
- Ate some incredible food.
- Worked some really cool conferences.
- Threw 3000+ balls for my dog.

Amor Fati - Love your Fate. Take the good with the bad, it’s all necessary. See you next year.

“Reading is talking to the dead.” - Ryan Holiday

This month’s book recommendation is not a shared spotlight (I have 3 others not completed whoops) because it so profound and packed with insight. This isn’t your typical read. It is not written in a linear fashion and was actually never meant to be released. Marcus Aurelius (Yes the old guy from Ridley Scott’s Gladiator) journaled his thoughts over her 19 year reign of Rome. We are now left with an incredible wealth of wisdom as he faced constant turmoil and hardship. While this isn’t some fresh find, I feel that the book found me at the right time in life and I was able to connect with a man who used the guiding light of his philosophy to endure numerous obstacles he would face. I spent most of my time with this book rereading and journaling on each page to help digest some of it and not take for granted the look into an emperor’s thoughts. I highly recommend this one. Now on to Seneca!

Yes - Bumi is included bc he is regal by nature.

I’ve been in a reflective space for most of October. Enjoying the downtime for reading and music.

1. Big thanks to for getting me back into reading after a long gap. The Assassin’s Apprentice has been a lot of fun to read. Hobb’s writing style really illustrates the character’s thoughts and feelings beyond typical imagery - She is in a league of her own and I’m excited to start the 2nd book.

2. Don’t believe everything you think has really opened my eyes to how easily our thoughts can betray us and affect our relationships with ourselves and others. This is far beyond your typical self help book as Nyguyen uses metaphors and his own life experiences to explain his perspective. It’s a quick read but I highly recommend it if you are struggling with an overstimulated mind.

Wishing everyone a productive and peaceful November.
